Dear heart,
I apologize for the pain that you have gone through recently. I am sorry for all the drama you have to endure.
Consequently, I refuse to let you face that again. It just doesn’t seem right anymore.
I know you went through this before.
I know you say that ‘a little pain is worth the gain.’ However, this time I’m taking the lead and listening to my brain.
How many times has it told us that this was going to end in disaster?
The debacle is that you get broken each time; you give your all and get hardly anything in return.
In distress, you beat faster and faster, putting a strain on you.
It is just too much pressure so I have to do what I have to do.
I must seal you with a lock and a key that can’t even be broken by me.
This is the solution I came up with. I hope for both our sakes it works.
So you will never love again.
You will never respond so widely when you hear his voice, breathe in his scent or accept his choice to just be friends.
You will never clench at the sight of her next to him nor will you burn when they embrace.
No, you will remain at regular rates and watch it all with no envy in trace.
You will never have to face that feeling of defeat, of failure, of shame when you think he is looking at you with that love in his eyes but sadly he’s looking at the one by your side.
