I hope you enjoy this as much as the original, LouLou.
One: I Am Alive
The flames rise around me, licking at the curtains and the couch and the plastic flowers in the glass vase in the corner, but they haven't touched me yet. I watch them, slowly descending upon me, but I couldn't bring myself to move away from them. I watched them destroy every memory that my mother had felt painfully inclined to photograph and hang on the walls for the nineteen years I have been alive. I watch it burn holes into her eyes, into my father's eyes, into my eyes.
The smoke swirls above my head, forming a large cloud that rained pieces of drywall and shingles from the hole it had crawled through. Through them I could clearly see the night sky, the moon hanging high and shining down onto the world. The flames chases after it, rising higher and higher.
I can feel the floor underneath me giving way, cracking like the entire structure was a huge fireplace. It made me smile, and I can feel it. The floor to the right of me goes first, falling and bringing everything else down with it. Another wave of drywall falls over me as I'm brought down, crashing to the concrete floor of the basement with a thud and the sound of torn flesh. The couch and living room chairs surrounded me, fallen over in defeat. A warm feeling settles in my stomach as I lay there, staring up at the night sky. There's no need to raise my head to see what had happened, there wasn't enough energy in my body to do so anyway, but I already knew. I could feel it, the warmth.
I can feel the pool of blood that surrounds me, reaching it's fingers out to cover everything it could touch. I could feel the large splinter of wood that had torn through my chest. I could feel the blood rise in my throat and fill my mouth, the metallic taste lulling me into the darkness that began to consume my mind. Over the sound of the flames and the cracking and the rush of blood in my ears I could hear sirens of men in firetrucks and ambulances, but even they knew that they were too late. The darkness takes my vision, my eyes closing. I could feel it's hands touch my shoulders, coaxing me into it as my body relaxes into it's forgiving arms.
-----
Fun fact: I wrote this entire chapter while listening to You Don't Own Me. It was a great night.
If there are any errors in this I'm blaming Lou because she did the editing for it it'S ALL HER FAULT.
Ya know, I was going to say something else here- I had everything planned in my head and junk- but aS SOOn as I sat down it all just dis-a-friggin-ppearred. So...
Peace, I guess.
