~~~~~SANDSTORM~~~~~
Sandstorm stretched out her wings, the dim torches in her cave shining in her blurry eyes. The SandWing yawned, smacking her mouth together. Yeah, the sweet smell of musty cave, she thought grumpily. She looked herself over, making sure she hadn't cut herself with one of the many miscallenous rocks lying around. Sandstorm found herself staring at the brown swirl patterns on her wings. She blinked and shook her head.
"It's not even important," Sandstorm mumbled, rubbing her forehead. She peeked out of the small window in her sleeping cave to see the sun still low in the sky. I should go for a walk before...
BRUUUUUUM BRUUUUUUUUM.
Sandstorm flattened her ears against her head and squeezed her eyes together. Talk about misjudgment of time. Stay vigilant idiot, the breakfast drum is nothing to get scared off. She strode to the entrance of her sleeping cave and towards the Center Pass. The hallways bustled with dragons of all kinds and ages, from spritely young MudWings to old and broken SeaWings.
"Sandstorm, darling!" I voice trilled over the crowd. Sandstorm turned to see a petite SeaWing covered in necklaces and anklets swaggering towards her. His metallic jewelry sparkled in the torchlight, the golden flower crown atop his head especially twinkling.
"Morning Octopus," Sandstorm responded, giving him an acknowledging wave. He smiled then his eyes shot to her talons.
"Where's that onyx and gold ring I gave you?" Octopus asked, his eyes sharply evaluating her. Welp.
"Oh, I...uh...put in safe keeping," Sandstorm laughed awkwardly, remembering that she actually had given it a greedy MudWing who loved gold.
"Good! That took so long to make in the forges, you should appreciate what I do for you," Octopus huffed, poking her in the chest. More dragons shoved past them, rushing to the Refectory. When did everyone like moldy seagulls so much, Sandstorm thought, thinking of their usual breakfast.
"Oi you two," barked a scrawny male SandWing coming from behind the two dragons, "Get to breakfast already. You're clogging the hallway. Nautilus has got an announcement, apparently too." He then growled to himself and shuffled off.
"Thanks Sandviper," Sandstorm called to him. What a strange dragon. Octopus smiled slightly, leaning towards Sandstorm.
"He's weird, but I like him, if you know what I mean," Octopus giggled into Sandstorm's ear, putting his hand over the blush spreading across his snout as he pulled away. Sandstorm's face grew hot. Stupid Octopus being stupid.
"You heard the guy, let's go," Sandstorm snapped quietly at Octopus. He grumbled, but followed her as she strode towards the Center Pass and Refectory. They entered into the large circular hallway known as the Center Pass, where the last couple of dragons filtered into the south wing. Out of nowhere, Octopus stopped and frantically adjusted his jewelry.
"What now?" Sandstorm clipped, annoyed with this SeaWing's antics.
"Oh..heh...it's just..um," he coughed and nodded towards the entry to the south wing. Sandstorm looked to see who or what he was nodding too. It took Sandstorm a little bit then she knew who Octopus was referncing too. Scalding the SkyWing, she huffed. But Sandstorm saw Octopus's reasoning, Scalding was tall and agile, with dazzling topaz eyes and shiny blood red scales. She shook her head, Focus Sandstorm. Octopus and her marched towards the hallway leading to the Refectory and finally made it in. Tons of dragons buzzed with excitement inside the enormous cavern. Sandstorm then spotted a certain SeaWing taking stage on a rock outcropping.
"Quiet now," Nautilus, the leader of the Talons, commanded. Everyone went silent. He paused, waiting. "We have a new special member to introduce!" Many dragons perked their ears, including Sandstorm. Murmurs rippled around the room. Nautilus smiled, happy with the response he had garnered. "This is Destroyer....the NightWing," Nautilus announced finally. Almost everyone gasped as a beautiful dragon Sandstorm had never seen before came and stood beside Nautilus. His scales glittered a dark ebony, the underside of his wings twinkled like the night sky and his ruby eyes shone with the attitude that he knew all and no one else could match that. Sandstorm's heart jumped and her stomach went full circle. He's....he's...so......gorgeous. When she saw his golden bull ring her heart skipped another beat. What's this feeling? I've never felt so.....warm inside. Her talons went up to her face, finding it to be extremely hotter than usual. What's wrong with me? Sandstorm tried to look away, but couldn't keep her eyes of the ravishing stranger.
This must only be the start.
