"Who knows the answer?"

I put my head into my hands, trying to hide myself, maybe become invisible, if at all possible.

"Ellie? Who was the first president of the USA?"

I slowly lifted my head out of my hands and opened my eyes. In front of me I saw a class full of teenage boys and girls turned right around in their chairs to stare at me. I looked at the teacher. He was peering over his glasses and he looked angry. He was my favourite teacher actually. He was quite stylish. He was wearing a baby blue tight shirt, no tie, tight trousers with a brown belt and glossy formal shoes. He had black glasses which were very attractive and he was poofy brown hair, it looked so soft.

"Christopher Columbus?" I said, not knowing what subject we were in. The others students burst out laughing. I was unaware of what I had joked about. I looked up at Mr Sanchez. He looked down at the floor disappointedly and shook his head. I twiddled with my pen as I took a few deep breaths and tried to stay calm. I didn't want to freak out like I did before.

Why am I so stupid.

Mr Sanchez opened his mouth, as if to say the right answer but I was saved by the bell; saved from more embarrassment.

I grabbed all my books and jumped up from my chair. I quickly sped out of the classroom, ahead of all the other talking classmates I had. I didn't have friends in my class.

My locker was on the top floor of school so I speed walked my way to the staircase. It was lunchtime so the halls were busy. As I made my way to the staircase I realised that I wouldn't get to my locker for a long time.

I'll use the other staircase, the one that nobody uses.

I turned around and barged through lots of people and ran to the other staircase. It was quiet. Too quiet.

Why doesn't anyone use this staircase?

I laughed and realised that I would be at my locker in no time.

As I was walking up the second flight of stairs, I heard laughter. Evil laughter. A group of boys.

Oh no.

I put my head down and picked up my pace so I was almost jogging up the stairs. It didn't work. I was soon walking past the group.

"Hey Ellie! Find out who the president was?" They snickered like a group of hyenas. I looked up. It was the school bully, Derek, and his gang. Derek is in my history class, I'm sure he told the whole world how stupid I am.

He stood up and put his hand on the door, blocking my passage to exit the staircase. He clicked his fingers and his gang stood up and began to corner me into a wall. My heart was in my throat and my breathing started to go funny. There were no security cameras in this hallway, that's why his gang hang out here. They are known to be dangerous, I never saw them at lunch. I wonder why...

Derek's friend, Rayool cracked his knuckles, intimidating me.
I'm dead.

I closed my eyes, I was helpless. My hands were shaking, I was trembling all over.
All of a sudden I hear a bang and shouting.

Finally, a teacher has come to the rescue!!

Someone put a hand on Derek's shoulder and pulled them around to face them. He punched Derek right over the jaw and he fell to the ground.

This definitely is not a teacher...
