I was walking with Harry out of Top Shop after their performance of 'Diana' when Liam pulled me aside, to walk with him
"Li, what's up?" I asked curiously as Harry kept walking, talking with Zayn and Niall.
Louis was walking on the other side of me. I was in the middle of a LiLo sandwich.
"Harry fancies you," Louis giggled like a schoolgirl. I raised an eyebrow at him. He rolled his blue eyes at me. "Sorry for trying to translate into your girl language. He likes you. That's what fancy means in American, right?"
"Yes, it does, and you did a terrible job at being a girl, Louis," I laughed.
"That's why I'm a boy," he answered.
"And I already knew that. When I told him about Damien and I breaking up, he looked a lot happier," I said.
"Don't you have something to tell us, Diana?" Liam teased, poking my side as we got to the end of the block. Harry was a few feet in front of us, still talking to Zayn and Niall.
"What do you mean?" I asked, looking at him.
Liam looked at Louis with his eyebrows raised and Louis returned the look, making me slightly annoyed at them.
"What do you mean, Liam?" I repeated.
"You like Harry, don't you?" Louis asked, clasping his hands together behind his back and twisting his torso a little.
I shrugged, embarrassed and trying to not let it show. "So what if I'm starting to have feelings about him? I mean, it's not like anything's going to happen."
"Right. That's if he doesn't find out," Liam nodded.
"Exactly," I agreed as the light changed for us to walk.
Liam and Louis exchanged another glance before they both took off on the crosswalk, catching up to Harry. I widened my eyes as Zayn and Niall fell back to be walking with me. When I tried to go get Louis and Liam, they grabbed my arms, holding me back.
"Let me go, you two," I said through gritted teeth. We made it to the next block and LiLo was still talking to Harry.
"Nope, not until they're done talkin' to 'arry," Niall answered.
"Is this some sort of planned the four of you knuckleheads planned out or something?" I asked, looking between them.
"Yes, actually," Zayn nodded.
"Of course it is," I sighed, watching Harry's head turn back to me and then snap front again. "Oh my God, he knows. My chances with him are ruined, aren't they?"
"Well, not entirely. He does fancy you," Zayn countered.
"That--"
"Diana," Harry interrupted, Niall and Zayn losing their grip on my arms and joining Louis and Liam a few feet in front of us.
We moved over to the left side of the sidewalk to stay out of people's way. That gave me some time to think about what he was going to say and what I was going to do when he said whatever he said.
"Liam and Louis told me about your feelings for me," he said cautiously. I knew him well enough to know that he was trying to pick his words carefully, so that he didn't upset me. Could there be anything more perfect about him? "I want you to know that I have the same feelings for you too. That's why I was acting 'a way' when Damien was with you." The answer is yes, he could be more perfect--he was being straightforward.
"Right. Look, Harry," I started.
"Would you like to go out with me tonight?" Harry blurted, making my words halt.
I blinked a few times, registering what he'd just said to me. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Would you like to go out with me tonight?" Harry repeated.
"Like-like a date?" I stammered. How much more idiotic could I be?
"Yeah, like a date. I get it if you don't want to because it'll ruin our friendship or something. But I figured us having feelings for each other ruined that already," he explained.
I stood there, my mouth slightly open. And the answer is so much more; I could (and was) being so much more idiotic.
"Diana?" Harry asked after a few seconds.
"I would love to," I finally answered.
He smiled, his dimples showing. Man, he was an attractive guy. And I was going out with him tonight. Oh boy.
