Hannah's POV:
"Wait, Rocky, stay. Please?" I say just as he's about to walk out the door. He turns around, confused.
"I...I want to talk," I studder, "I'm tired but...I think I need to get stuff off my mind first. If...if that's okay with you?"
"Of course, Hannah," Rocky walks over to me and sits next to me as I lay in his bed, "you can tell me anything. What do you want to talk about?"
"Um...well, do you want to hear about Zach?" Hannah asks shyly, "I mean, if you'd rather not..."
"Sweetheart," he looks into my eyes, "I meant it when I said you can tell me anything, and I mean that about everything. I'll always be here for you."
"Ok well, gosh, I don't know where to start."
Rocky thinks for a minute, then asks "How long did you guys date?"
"We dated for 9 months, but it was only real for like 7 months. I was too afraid to break up with him for the last two months. I didn't want him to hurt me." My voice started to crack at the last sentence and Rocky grabbed one of my hands and held it in his tightly. I sat up, a little shaky. "I was trying to slowly let our relationship fade away. He must have caught on the night of the concert, and was really mad about it. He had been...abusing me...for two months. I had so many bruises and I still have scars..." I pause, showing him the fading white lines that streak across my stomach and a newly formed scar on my neck from the night of the concert when Zach held a knife to my neck. Rocky takes a finger from the hand that's not holding mine and traces the lines on my stomach slowly and carefully.
"How did he do this?" Rocky asks as he traces them.
"He used a knife. He did it as a threat, if I ever...loved again, or if I got...pregnant." A tear ran down my cheek, followed by a few more. Soon, I was completely sobbing. He wrapped his strong arms around me and held my face to his chest, letting my tears soak his shirt.
"Shhhh, Baby, don't worry. I will protect you always. No matter who you're with or what you're doing, I will always keep you safe." I looked up at him, staring into his eyes to see if he meant it. Not only did I see that he was telling the truth, but I saw him start to lean in. I started leaning in too and our lips met halfway.
His lips were warm and soft. At first only brushing mine lightly, then slowly pressing into them a little bit harder. He folds his hand into the back of my neck, pulling me closer to him. I kiss him back even harder, hoping it will help me forget about Zach, even temporarily. I run my hands through his hair, the soft, brown locks that extend barely past his ears. He smiles while still kissing me, making me smile, too. When he pulls back for air, I immediately miss the feeling of his lips on mine. I have the urge to pull him back into me and keep kissing him, but I resist the urge. I don't want to seem desperate.
Rocky's POV:
I pull away for a breath and look into Hannah's eyes. She's not crying anymore but there's something else in her eyes that I can't quite place. I can tell she conflicted about something, but I don't know what it could be.
Instead of asking her, I decide to attempt to resolve it by putting my hand on her cheek and kissing her again softly. At first she seems surprised, but then she starts kissing me back, more passionately than before. I take a risk and let my tongue glide along the edge of her lower lip. She opens her mouth, allowing me to proceed. Our tongues dance and wrestle, winning dominance and losing it, fighting a battle.
Without separating our lips, I move her until she's lying down on the bed. I get on top of her and continue to kiss her deeply until we both have to breathe.
I climb off of her and kneel next to the bed. "I think you can sleep now, Baby," I say, still partially out of breath. I kiss her on the forehead and then peck her lips. "If you need anything, just yell."
She looks at me, her eyes starting to droop as if they weighed twice their normal weight. "Thank you, Rocky, that was amazing. Just please tell me you felt that, too?" She widens her eyes for a second, most likely remembering the events of the last 10 minutes.
I smile. "How could I not, Baby? It's pretty hard to miss the feeling when the sparks fly."
