I sat on the curb, crying softly and hugging my duffle bag I was supposed to bring with me to Europe. But I wasn't going to Europe with my mother anymore. My mother... A loud sob escaped my lips when I thought of what had just happened. As I recalled it, the sirens and crowds noise subsided and I let the flashing lights fade into my peripheral vision.

"Mom, I'm home!" I yelled. I threw my school bag down on the couch and circled the first floor, looking for my mother. She wasn't there, so I checked upstairs. Not there, either. Oh, well. I brought my duffle bag down to the front door. We would be leaving for Europe the next day; I always liked to be ready early. I went up into my mom's room to watch some TV, as her room had the only working television. I settled down on her bed, and saw something drip from the corner of my eye. I examined it closely where it fell; I realized horrifically that it was blood. I slowly looked up to the ceiling. There was my mother, splayed on the ceiling and covered in blood. I screamed as she was somehow set on fire. No, this wasn't happening, it couldn't be... I ran as the room was engulfed in flames, thinking fast and grabbing the duffle bag that was already by the door. I ran to the curb and didn't look behind me, but I could still feel the heat of the flames on my back, see the blood on her clothes. I thought about her and everything we'd been through; I was in tears by the time the fire trucks and police cars got there.

"Hey, do you live here?" I was drawn back to the present by a man's voice. I looked up at the two men standing in front of me. One had spiked dirty blonde hair and the other had long brown hair. The blonde had green eyes and the other had dark brown eyes. The latter was very tall compared to the former, even though the former was at least six feet tall.

"Yeah, I did. Who are you guys?" I asked, studying them closely.

"We're detec-" the blonde started, but was cut off.

"I'm Sam, and this is Dean. We heard what happened and wanted to give our condolences." Sam explained. I nodded.

"Nice to meet you, I guess." I took a deep breath and smelt the smoke. I looked back briefly, snapping my head back immediately; they found my mother's charred body and were bringing it out in a body bag.

"What's your name?" Dean asked.

"Riley Collins." I raked a hand through my short hair. It used to be longer, but it kept getting in the way so now it was cut so that I looked a bit like a boy. I'm an 18 year old girl, just graduated highschool; that's why we were going to Europe. My hair is black and my eyes are green.

"Riley, can you tell us what happened in there?" Sam knelt down to look me kindly in the eyes.

"You wouldn't believe me, no one will," I assured him. How was I supposed to explain this? This thing that seemed to follow me around, the thing I'm pretty sure killed my father. The best hunter I knew.

"Try us." I sighed and told them quietly what happened, every detail. I fingered nervously with the strap of my duffle bag in the road beside me. Once I finished both of them looked at me more empathetically than before.

"Don't worry, Riley, we believe you. That same thing happened to... Our mother, too, and my girlfriend... Come with us, we'll explain." Sam said, offering a hand to help me up. I took his hand, swinging my bag over my shoulder. We left the reach of the lights and they led me to their car. My jaw dropped and I gasped.

"Woah, dude, your car is awesome! What year is it?" I exclaimed, scampering over to get a better look. I didn't dare touch it. Dean came up behind me and rested his arm on my shoulder.

"1967. She's a beauty, isn't she?" I nodded.

"I've never seen an Impala from before '70 that looked this good. This is so amazing... Oops, sorry, I'm probably boring you to death." I chuckled nervously and put my arms behind my back. Dean shook his head.
