The events of the day played through Nora's head as she sat at the bar with a beer. She wondered why Enzo had kidnapped Rayna's dead body, she admired how dedicated Bonnie was to protecting her friends and she was greatful to Mary Louise for helping them.

Behind it all her heart ached for the two things she wanted: an apology and to take Mary Louise back into her arms.

She studied the words on the label of the bottle, trying to distract herself from her longing. The bell of the diner door rang and she turned to see who had entered. Her heart almost melted as she saw Mary Louise in the doorway, her face showing her vulnerability and sadness.

"I thought you'd be back in Mystic Falls by now." She commented as Mary Louise walked towards her slowly.
"I just uh," She paused, clearly fighting back a tear, "wanted to say thank you. For today. We still make a good team, don't you think?"
Nora swallowed hard, they had hardly spoken since their breakup.
"Well Reyna's dead, Julian's safe, you'll surely sleep easy tonight." Mary Louise blinked away the tears Nora's comment had provoked. The truth was she had hardly slept without Nora by her side.

Mary Lou turned directly to Nora, asking with a shaken voice. "Do you like her?"
"Bonnie?" Nora questioned, trying to hold back a chuckle. Mary Louise was the only one she'd 'liked' in over a century. Nothing had changed.
"And what if I did?" Nora leaned closer. She wasn't going to let Mary Lou know how desperately she wanted her back.
"She's beautiful, smart and loyal. And you appear to be only two of those things." A tear slid down Mary Louise's cheek. Nora knew she had hurt her more than she had been hurt, her heart was breaking.
"I'm sorry I chose Julian." Nora stared forwards, allowing the words she craved fill her ears.
"If I could take it back, I would choose you, every time."
Nora's face was tense but showed no emotion.
"I love you, Nora. I hope you'll forgive me someday." Nora's face softened. She was screaming at herself on the inside.
Mary Louise got up from the stool and began to walk towards the door.
"We do, still make a good team." Nora referred back to Mary Lou's early question and held out the beer to her. She turned and walked back towards Nora and sat back besides her.

Mary Louise took the bottle from Nora and drank. Nora pulled her stool closer to her much to Mary Lou's surprise. Mary Louise's breathing became faster, her heart beating stronger. She wanted Nora back desperately.

Nora sat staring at the bar top. She turned to face Mary Louise who's eyes were still streaming with tears. Her eyebrows raised slightly and she brushed a tear from her blushing cheek. A faint smile was painted over both of their lips.
"I want you back, Mary Lou." Nora whispered.
Her eyes met Mary Louise's, a hunger for love filled them.

Nora ordered two more beers and the lovers conversed until late. Nora glanced at the clock hung on the wall. "Wow, it's late. We should get back." She reached for her coat on the chair and froze. "Where have you been staying Mare?"
"The Salvatore House."
"With all Julian's cronies lurking about?!"
"It's fine, uh I'm safe. I promise."
"Well If you insist." Nora raised her eyebrows and slid her coat on whilst Mary Louise payed for the drinks.

They both made their way from the diner, stopping just outside the door. "Well, goodnight Mary Lou." Nora smiled and walked over to her car, Mary louise doing the same. Mary Louise swallowed, all she wanted was to climb back into bed with her love but it seemed it would not be happening tonight.

She unlocked the car door and reached for the handle. Nora vamped in front of her and leant on the door of the car, a smirk on her face. Mary Louise's heart raced.
"You didn't really think I was going to let you stay another night in that house with all those, Men around. Did you?" Mary Louise opened her mouth slightly to reply but no sound came out.

Nora's eyes followed Mary Lou's gaze from the floor to meet hers. Their hearts pounding in their chests.
Nora reached for Mary Lou's hand, all the while staring into her eyes. Their skin touched and electricity charged through their bodies. Nora intertwined her fingers with Mary Louise's and the tension was overwhelming.
"I love you, Mary Louise." Their gaze held for a few seconds after before Nora exhaled sharply and pulled Mary Louise towards her. Their lips met but barely craved the hunger. Nora pushed her tongue inside Mary Louise's mouth and they danced intensely. Their arms were wrapped around each others waists, clinging onto the thing they loved the most. Nora felt Mary Louise's fresh tears against her skin and pulled away from her. She clasped her face in her hands and kissed her once again, softly. Showing her affection and love. Nora parted from the kiss, leaving a paticularly starstruck Mary Louise.

"Let's go back to my dorm at Whitmore. It can be our home for tonight. I just want to be with you Mare." Nora whispered. "Anywhere is home when I'm with you." Mary Lou replied making Nora chuckle as she walked back to her car. "You just called a car Park home Mary Lou." Nora shouted back.
They both stepped into their cars. Mary Lou's face was alight with joy and desire. The journey back to Whitmore, however short, would be extremely painful.
