A boy around the age of fifteen is laying on his back while gazing at the peaceful sky above him. He is wearing the typical white school shirt and long black trousers. He had a bored expression on his face and it seemed like he is about to go to sleep at any moment. Every single day, he would always be on the school rooftop, looking at the calm blue sky without fail. How do I know this? Well, that's because the guy being described is none other than...me myself.
"sigh, I wish I could be free like those clouds up there..." I muttered to myself.
bell rings, I sighed again. I stood up and looked at the birds roaming freely in the sky one last time before shortly heading towards the door to the stairs. Proceeding down the stairs once more, I glanced out the window one last time before heading back to class.
As I slowly entered my class, I could instantly hear loud chattering echoing throughout the entire room. It was very annoying but I managed to endure it and got to my chair before going mental. I sat down on my chair and checked my timetable. It was currently ICT. I took out my notebook and prepared everything I needed for the infamous computer class. At this moment, I heard a certain phrase that had peaked up my curiosity.
"Hey, have you heard of that new popular game?" A boy said to his friend.
"Yeah! It's been going up the rankings like crazy ever since it came out" the friend replied excitedly. By the time I had realised, I was already standing behind the boy and listening to their conversation secretly.
"Hey you, what's the name of that game you're talking about?" I asked them seriously.
The entire class suddenly stopped talking and looked at my direction with a shocked expression on their faces.
"Did, Zayden, just asked, a question that's actually, not related to studies?!" one of the girls said out loud. I staggered upon hearing that.
"Oh, cmon! It's not like I've never asked anyone about something other than studies!" I yelled childishly. They all looked at each other for a few seconds before nodding their heads at me multiple times in perfect synchronisation. Witnessing this...somehow hurt my pride a bit.
To be honest, they weren't wrong. I've never actually asked nor talked to anyone about something that is unrelated to studies except that one time when I asked one of the boys from next class the meaning behind that 9+10 equals 21 jokes, but it has numbers so I guess it technically counts as Maths or social studies. I looked at my watch, 10:45 a.m. I was late for ICT by 10 minutes. I quickly grabbed my notebook and silently headed to the ICT room.
My ICT teacher, Mr Nasrul, was probably going to murder me and the rest of my class by the time I reach the ICT room. Luckily, it seems that he is absent today as there was an unknown stranger sitting on the teacher's chair. I knocked on the door politely before entering the room and saying good morning to the stranger.
"So you're the first one huh, what's your name?" he suddenly questioned me.
"Zayden Stealth, sir" I answered presuming that he is a new employee. Then, he started flipping through some documents until he finally stopped at a certain page.
"Say, you got to number one in the entrance and first exam?" he asked me.
"Yes sir, why did you ask?" I responded.
"It's nothing. Where is the rest of the class?" he dodged my question while smiling at me. I looked at the door and said "they should be coming in any sec-", speak of the devil.
"Good morning Yugaki-sensei!" a cheerful girl burst into the room while shouting out loud. Following her were my classmates who were saying good morning simultaneously. When they realised the teacher wasn't Yugaki-sensei, they all quiet down and each took a seat including me.
The man stood up.
"You're all probably wondering as to who I really am. As you can see, I'm not your regular teacher. My name is James Harts and from now on, I will be your new ICT teacher. Please call me Mr Harts." he introduced himself. We all stared at him with all kinds of expressions: happy, sad, nervous, excited, confused.
"Mr Harts, where is Mr Nasrul? Did he got fired?" the cheerful girl asked our new teacher.
"No, Yugaki-sensei will still be teaching the other classes in a different room. Your class luckily has been picked as the class that I will be teaching," he replied.
"Then sir, what are you going to teach us?" a boy asked. The man smiled.
"I've been tasked to teach you about the new syllable in this modern age, which will be...'Gaming' he answered.
Upon hearing that, the entire class stood up, screamed and cheered in joy. On the other hand, I merely sighed.
"What's the point of learning about something as useless as gaming?" I whispered to myself. Kagami-sensei then turned on the projector and opened up 'Microsoft Powerpoint'. The first slide wasn't much, there was only a huge phrase on the screen and the rest of the slides was plain light blue with some random texts. But that one phrase had caught my full attention. It stated there, 'League of Legends'. I didn't know why I was so fixated on that phrase, but once Kagami-sensei saw my gaze, he smiled.
"Of course, in order for you to learn about 'Gaming', obviously, you will all first have to start playing the main objective of this new syllable, which is the game. Have you all heard of this game?" he questioned the class while pointing his hand at the projected screen.
"Haiiii!" the entire class excluding me replied in unison. I was extremely confused and was about to raise my arm into the air but it seemed that sensei had already read my mind.
"League of Legends is a new game that was released from beta around one month ago and it has been swiftly going up the world best-ranking game ranking. This will also be the game that we will be studying for the rest of this year and next year," he stated.
At that moment, I hadn't known...that incident...would change my whole life...forever.
