"okay," Eli said and leaned against the front of his desk, hands clasped together and resting on his lap. "I dont know a thing about you people. I dont know your names or your stories. so we're going to start class simple." Eli's eyes skimmed over his class. some students were dead to the world, too engrossed in their phones. some were focused on him, hoping to learn on the first day of school. and some, mostly girls, were adjusting their clothes to try and draw attention to their physical atributes.
Eli's eyes stopped on a girl in the middle of the class who was hidden partly by her slumped position in her chair and partly by the book in front of her face. "you," he said and lifted his still clasped hands to point his index fingers at her. A students next to her shook her shoulder and she jumped.
"What?" she asked shocked. Her wide eyes went around the class and stopped on Eli. She noticed the fingers he was pointing and she groaned. "What did I do now?"
"Name," Eli demanded.
"Morgan Schafer," she responded and sat straighter in her seat.
"You were reading; what were you reading?"
Morgan glanced at her book and then back at Eli. A faint pink glowed on her cheeks as she flatly answered, "50 Shades of Grey."
Eli blinked and some of the class laughed. "Why?" he asked and Morgan and the rest of the class looked at him confused. "Why do you read that book? Is it because you're curious? Or are you not pleased with what favors you're recieving so you're living through the book?" Morgan seemed to get pale and red at the same time.
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"That's why we're in this class, to disect the cause of why people do what they do."
Morgan seemed distraught. "How does that have anything to do with what favors I may or may not be recieving?"
Eli got a better look at Morgan. "Well, you're a fairly attractive woman. I would assume you aren't a vir-"
"Mr. Davis!" Morgan shrieked and stood . "There are several things I would like to point out about what you were about to say. One being that you are a teacher and teachers should not be making comments about their student's sex lives while in class or at all! And for another, a friend recommended the book to me and while I may be curious about the book's plot, the activities that the characters partake in hold none of my interest! And I would like to request that you refrain from further disections about my choice in literature!"
Eli watched Morgan's clenched fists and heavy breathing. "That." Eli said and stood from is desk, pointing again at Morgan. "The reaction both emotionally and mentally; that is what we are going to look into in this class." His eyes scanned over his class and then made their way back to Morgan. "Miss Schafer, I apologize for the innapropriate comments, but your reaction was the perfect example."
Morgan glared with the heat of at least three hells and she shook her head as she sat down. "Next time you need a student to experiment with, kindly test the other atendees of the course."
