Chapter 5
*November*
Thanksgiving. The first holiday I had to spend without on family. It was going to be weird spending it alone, but I was sure I wasn't the only person that spent it alone.
There was a sudden knock on my door around five o'clock, so I got up and answered it. Tony was standing there, a suitcase placed beside him. "Are you finally moving?" I asked, eyeing the suitcase.
"What?" he asked, then looked down at his suitcase. "Oh, no, I'm going to dinner at my parents' house, then I'm spending the night. I just wanted to return your....sugar." He handed me a container of sugar I lent him a few days ago.
"You wanted to return my sugar?" I asked. I told him he could just keep all of it. "Thanks...." I took the container and placed it on the counter beside the door.
"So...." Tony said. "You going somewhere for Thanksgiving?"
"No," I said. "My parents, they're, um....overseas. So, it's just going to be me eating dinner today. Possibly enjoy a delivered pizza. Yeah...."
"Oh," Tony said. "You can come to dinner with my family. I mean, if you want. My parents don't mind having other people over. My sister's boyfriend is coming and so are two of his siblings, so you won't be the only guess. That is, if you want to...."
"Why would I want to spend even more time with you?" I asked when honestly, I kind of wanted to go. It would have been better than spending time alone, but I didn't want to seem too eager.
"It was just a suggestion," Tony said. "I thought you'd want to spend time with other people since your parents are overseas."
"Yeah, I guess," I said. "Sure."
Tony smiled faintly at me. "Great. Do you want me to drive you or do you want me to give you the address?"
"I don't mind you driving," I said. It would have been better showing up with him than showing up alone. "I'll just grab my phone."
I went to the living room, grabbing my phone off of the coffee table before going to the door and putting on my shoes. I grabbed my keys and walked out of the apartment, closing the door behind me and locking it. I then followed Tony out of the building and to his car.
When we got to his parents house, Tony took the suitcase out and walked through the door with me following. "Mom! Dad!" he called. "I'm here! And I brought a guest!"
Tony's parents walked to the entry of the house, both smiling. "There's my favorite son!" his dad said, giving him a hug.
"Dad, I'm your only son," Tony said. "This is my coworker, Charlie. Her parents are overseas, so I invited her over. Charlie, this is my dad, Gene, and my mom, Izzy."
"It's nice to meet you," Izzy said. "Dinner will be ready soon, so you can head over to the dining room. Graeme and Gale are already there and Poppy and Grayson should be here soon."
"Okay," Tony said before leading me to the dining room. I sat down beside him and it only took about thirty seconds before we starting arguing, like always. I liked picking on little things and arguing about them with him. It was so cute the way he got so mad.
Soon enough, Poppy and Grayson and Grayson showed up. Poppy sat down beside Tony and Grayson went to go help with dinner.
When dinner was placed on the table, everyone began digging in. Everyone was then soon talking about their jobs, saying how it was going, and Poppy and Grayson talked about how university was going so far.
