"Venice! People are sleeping! Not so loud." She screamed while whispering.
My heart beated miles per hour. I didn't know whether to burst out in tears, scream on the top of my lungs or hit the woman right in her face for leaving me without saying goodbye. I frose in utter shock on the floor.
"What were you doing outside?" My mother asked nicely with a soft morning voice implying she was tired. I had a lump in my throat. One of those dry painful ones. My hands were shaking heavily.
"Darling, what happened outside?" She crouched, leaned close to me and felt my forehead. I paused.
"...I'm calling the police."
"What?? NO no. It's fine. Nothing happened." Lucille gave me a worried look.
"I was going for a walk... and this girl got attacked. BUT everything is alright. He's arrested." I explained. My voice cracked. The first few seconds she didn't buy it but then changed her mind.
"You got me worried. If anything happends like that again you let me know, okay?" She asked so kindly. I nodded and got up. She pulled me in a hug.
"I'm proud of you." Seconds seem to last ages but then she pulled away.
"C'mon, you have school tomorrow." Lucille stretched her back making small cracks. "I hope you'll enjoy it. I know it's all new for you... It'll be alright." She smiled. I smiled in respond not very sure what to say at all.
I guess school in Japan has different school days. I was on my winterbreak back home.. Right! Home. That explains the boxes everywhere. What happened? Mom wouldn't move quickly. Too Japan is unthinkable. So something happened that made her change her mind dramaticly. Something dramatic. Why Japan?
"Okay. Goodnight." She sighed.
I forgot everything what happened the past year without her. I felt this odd pressure to shut up. I crawled in bed. But the air in my room was pressing on my lungs. I crawled out of bed into my moms room. She seemed so tired. Asif her energy is a candle and on some point of the day a kid blows the candle off. She reminded me of my father when he got back home after his last preformance around new years day. She slept. I smiled to myself and closed the door and returned to my bedroom. When I lay comfortable the feeling dissapeared. I fell asleep.

"Wakey wakey, little miss pancake.." I moaned.
"Mom. I'm sleeping."
"Whahaha, not anymore." She played.
"You're cruel."
"So cruel I buy you food. Get up. You have school." She said happily when she pulled the blankets of my body. I twisted around. The curtain of my small window flew open. I groaned.
"Huuurgh."
"If you're not out of your bed in three seconds something bad is going to happen."
"I'm not ticklish anymore." My mom laughed teasingly and sat down on my bed.
"You know.. I'm glad we did this..." I opened my eyes.
"..That we made a new start. I know that it has been hard for both of us and.. On some point we had to accept that dad is gone... and I think we are making one hell of a new start.. don't you think?"
"....Yeah."
Ow, I see.. to get my mom back I had to give something in return..
"As long as you are careful around cars.. I don't need another accident." She winked.
