Hold Me Down by Halsey
* * *
Stone wakes up on the second-floor cells, "good you're finally awake," Stone tries to focus on something other than the ringing in her ears.
"What happened?" She asks as she tries to wield the headache away, "tell me Stone are you the only one feeling or have the others gone rogue too?" Stone tries to focus in on General Alzack, "just me, the others look at me like I'm crazy 'cause I'm not empty like them. What happened to me?"
"What happened is you got too emotional for my comfort so I put a bullet through your skull to make sure your healing was up to par and to remind you that you are a weapon, my weapon and my weapons don't cry!" He shakes the cell bars in anger.
"I will not let you be my first failure. I will strip you of everything you feel even if it means I don't do it myself. Get up!"
Stone follows him across the hall where twenty vampires were locked in cells. "Normally I'd break them in myself, but this time you will do it." Stone looks at him as she realizes what he means,
"General-" he cuts her off, "think of it this way, it's either them or you." Captain Rai closes the door behind the General. "Me. Let it be me then. I can't do this."
General Alzack stops and turns with a vengeance, a blade goes across Stone chest before he pierces her heart. "You care so little about yourself, I wonder if you feel the same about your team, you will do this or it's them I will torture. When you wake up Rai will tell you what to do." Amoura passes out as General Alzack cuts her heart in half.
In fear of her team being torture, she does as Rai tells her and takes on the recruits, he shows her how to cause them the most pain possible. The twenty vampires she was given were all dead by the end of the second week. Every three weeks new recruits arrive at the compound and at least five days before the new rooks arrive the previous group is taken out in small bags full of their ashes.
"Stone, wake up the new arrives just got here." Stone forces herself out of her sleeping bag and up the stairs. She's been living in the training room. Since General Alzack began this new form of torment she hasn't been allowed to return to the living complex. Not that she'd want to go back after this.
Stone walks into the cells and sees the terrified vampires looking at her, she's already gotten used to the scent of urine and fear.
Rai walks up to her, "they won't survive." Aside from four vampires surviving from all eight previous groups, Rai has little hope any more than the three that are still alive in another room will join the Shadow Unit.
"Who?" Stone asks as she observes the terrified vampires, "all of them."
"What makes you say that?" She asks as she walks down the cells, "they don't have the look in their eyes."
Rai was right by the end of the week all twenty vampires were dead. "That's all the ones from my group. I'm going to shower, I got blood on my hair." Rai nods as he makes his last vampire scream.
Stone heads to the showers only to stop at the mirror when she sees she's covered in blood. She's more surprised about the mirror being fixed than her appearance. A day after she torched her group of vampire she went a little crazy and broke all the mirrors in the room. Mind you the training room has three out of four walls covered in mirrors. She punched the mirror gone, she did the same to the bathroom mirrors.
She has finally gotten used to the dead look in her eyes and no longer shies away from a mirror or reflection of herself. At first, Stone couldn't even look at herself in the mirror without breaking it apart just so she wouldn't have to see what she was becoming.
