It had been three days. Three days and Social Repose hadn't said anything to Indigo.
Three days since Indigo had even seen Social Repose. All she wanted now was to tell him she could pretend it never happened if he wanted.
Every time she went to his room she was told he wasn't there or he was busy with important diplomatic matters. She knew they were lies but took them in stride she didn't want to scare him off more.
She had been okay with social repose holding her at arms length until today. Today was the day that Lucinthia was sealed into her tree. He wasn't there and she had no one to make her feel safe.
After the funeral was the crowning. Three nymphs had made her a flower crown she had yet to take off, while the elves had made her a ring she wore just for safe keeping, the fairies had made her a new dress made from black lillies and roses that she left sitting next to her, the pixies wove a new veil out of the clouds. She had gathered a few other gifts but just kept the two on her while the others piled next to her in the clearing, she would haul them back to the castle and have them set around her room later. After that she would write social repose a letter releasing him from all the duties if being a friend. Not in a mean way but in a way that wouldn't hurt her, she finally had someone she could trust and he wasn't there when she needed him most.
There were foot steps on the edge of the clearing. Indigo didn't move, who ever it was would either leave what ever they had brought in the pile or see her and leave.
The footsteps grew near and stopped next to her, on the wrong side of the pile. There was a long moment where nothing happened but soon the owner of the foot steps plopped down next to her and just sat there.
Out of curiosity and the pure want to just be alone she looked out from under her arm up into the bluey green ones of social repose. She rolled her eyes and covered them up with her arm again.
"What are you doing?" social repose asked.
Indigo felt anger bubble in her. It had been three days and this was the first thing he felt the need to say to her? "Doing what princesses that are also Queens tend to do." she replied somewhat passive aggressively.
"Laying in a feild?" social repose asked ignoring her tone.
"And contemplating life." Indigo said her tone didn't change but she did remove her arm from her eyes.
"What could you possibly be contemplating?" social repose asked.
Indigo could feel her chest tighten. "A few days ago a beautiful boy kissed me in my bed room but then left. He hasn't spoken to me since and it's rather annoying. I was hoping that i would see him today at Lucinthia's funeral or even at my crowning but he never showed. Its all so annoying sad and I'm not even angry at the boy. I'm angry at myself for not hating him a little because he let me down and confused me." she said, her passive aggressive tone fading away into sadness.
"I'm sure he's just as confused as you are." social repose replied quietly.
"Why?" indigo asked her voice breaking slightly "He's either in or out. We're either friends or more than friends. Its all up to him." she said crying lightly now.
"What if he doesn't want it all up to him. What if he wants it up to you too. He might want you to be happy with your choice not just go with his." social repose said softly brushing the twars off of her white face.
"I would want more but settle on friends. I couldn't bear losing something so wonderful." she said.
Suddenly he was all to aware of his hand on her cheek and how beautiful her eyes were. Like swirling pits of midnight.
Indigo's stomach did a weird flip that made her want to be closer to Social Repose but at the same time she felt like was going to throw up. Indigo sat up abruptly breaking the intense moment.
She stared off into the trees trying to catch her breath that she shouldn't have lost. She felt Social Repose tangle his hands in her hair, playing with the tumbling curls in an attempt to calm her.
It wasn't working.
Indigo suddenly knew why social repose hadn't been around in three days. There was a fight or flight reaction in the pit of her stomach just from him being close.
It would seem like their reactions would be opposite of what they were. Social repose being a war hero should have stayed and Indigo being a fragile princess should have run. But the second Indigo could breath again she wirled around and crushed her lips to his.
It was a little awkward. Okay a lot awkward it was her first real Kiss and she hadn't really ever seen one either.
After a moment of shock social repose pulled away. "No." he said.
"I'm sorry i should not have assumed-" Indigo began only to be cut off by social repose.
"No no. Oh god no." he said laughing slightly and Indigo knit her eyebrows together. "I mean no, you're doing it wrong." he finished.
Indigo had a look of offence on her face as she swatted social repose on the shoulder. "I'm sorry we can't all have bathroom sessions with the princess of england while the court is busy." social repose instantly regretted telling her that story.
"Here I'll show you how to do it." he said and Indigo raised her eyebrow. "Close your eyes." social repose said.
"How am i supposed to learn anything if my eyes are closed?" she asked sceptically.
"Just do it." he laughed a little. She did as she was told. Slowly social repose moved in and placed his hand on her cheek. He swallowed when he felt her lean into it. Even slower than before he leaned in and dipped his head so that he almost kissed her.
There was a small moment where he could feel everything around them buzzing. Then a half a second later he swooped in and kissed her.
He slowly began moving his lips. Indigo moved with him but at a much sloppier pattern, she soon got used to the pattern and it was less awkward.
Social Repose pulled back and Indigo gasped. "You aren't breathing." He said and his voice made a shiver run down Indigo's spine.
"I'm supposed to breath while all of that is happening?" Indigo asked panting slightly. Her wide eyes swirling like the ocean.
Social repose chuckled and nodded. Indigo smiled as she watched him for a minute.
"Explain it again." she whispered and he looked her deep in the eyes before saying
"Anything for something amazing."Okay so i have to leave a note here. I was at an awkward moment here and i know i kinda went zero to sixty on the relationship but now I'm slowing down and focusing on other parts now.
