Alec wiped the sweat from his forehead and waved to the crowd. Koptown, Georgia had been a great concert. He stared out onto the sea of people, all screaming his name or 'I love you,' or waving a poster in the air. He couldn't believe how far he'd come. From being a local Tennessee boy writing songs in his backyard, to a upcoming pop star writing songs for his newest album. He loved performing for people who loved his music, who thought him to be an inspiration. But after 6 months on tour, he was ready for his final performance in his hometown, Crofton, Tennessee.
"Thankyou, Koptown, Georgia!" He yelled and waved goodbye to the frantic crowd. His mouth was dry after hours of singing, and his fingers cramped from strumming at the guitar.
He walked off the stage and the concert was at a close. This was his largest audience so far, with 2000 people in the audience. Even after so many concerts, he was still nervous for every single one.
"Yo! I was thinking we could go order some pizza when we get to the room, I'm starving, concerts are so tiring," Alec's best friend started talking to him the moment he walked off stage. "Dude, you were back here snacking the entire time," Alec replied. That was Derek for you. He was very passionate about his food. "Oh yea, and nice performance," Derek said as an after thought. He had been coming to the shows for the past two weeks. When Alec had a concert in Alabama, Derek came and surprised him, they hadn't seen each other since the tour started 5 months before. After one performance, Derek decided he wanted to stay for the rest of the tour. Alec assumed it was only because of the free food, but Derek swore it was purely out of friendship. Either way, Alec enjoyed having his best friend with him.
He told Derek to knock himself out, order as much food as he wanted. Alec could really eat whatever he wanted, he was only 15, still growing, and all the concerts drained a lot of energy anyway.
They drove to a medium priced hotel a little ways from where the concert was, got settled in for the night, and ordered some food.
"So you excited for Wednesday?" Derek asked between bites of pizza. Wednesday was the last night of his tour, and after wards he was taking a break and only writing music. "Yea, I mean, I'm just ready to take a break from all the travel and crowds, and let things go back to normal for a minute." Alec wasn't so sure things would ever really be normal again, but at least he would be home.
They finished off the cheese pizza they ordered and Alec got right into bed. He grabbed his phone from his bag and saw a text from his mom.
Hope the show went well! -mom
Despite what most people say about teenagers hating their parents, Alec loved both of his. He missed them so much while he was on tour, but they came to his shows every month at least. They couldn't come with him on tour because of his twin sisters both started fifth grade in the fall, and he wanted them to have a normal summer. Alec was sure to keep them out of the life of fame until they decided it was for them.
He sent his mom a text back.
It was great! Can't wait to see you soon :) -Alec
He also replied to the texts from his closest friends in his hometown and then turned off his iPhone 4. He then got out his iPhone 6, and went into Instagram. He had to do this almost every night, or get someone to do it for him.
He posted a picture from the concert, thanking the crowd and announcing the last show of the tour in four days. Then he responded to about 50 random text messages from fans with hearts or thank you's.
He loved the fame, but the social media got to be much.
After finishing up his texts, he turned off his phone and hit the hay, thinking about how much fun he would have back home.
