Chapter 3~
"Hole in one!" Luke cheered and waved his golf club around. I sighed and rolled my eyes at him. He did this at every hole, yes, he got hole in one's at all of them. As for me, it took me six or seven tries to get the ball into the hole. I wasn't that coordinated when it came to sports. I was pretty good at volleyball and basketball but any other sport I tried, I failed at, miserably.
"I don't want to play with you anymore!" I crossed my arms over my chest and pouted.
"Aww, does somebody need a hug?" He asked and held out his arms. I shook my head and backed away. Luke's touch had too much of an affect on me.
"I think you do." He said and advanced towards me, arms still out. I backed away, tripping over my own feet, and almost falling. Almost. Luke saved me just in time. He grabbed my hand before I could hit the floor and pulled me close to him. Our faces almost touched and I felt fire all over my body. One arm was hooked on the small of my back and the other rough, warm hand held mine, ever so gently. I felt my cheeks darken almost immediately.
"Watch out." Luke said quietly as his face inched closer to mine. I tried to pull away but he kept a firm hold on my back.
"Luke.." I said quietly, but made sure some authority sounded in my voice.
"Abby." He whispered, getting so close that his lips barely brushed past mine, a tingle of electricity still passed through my lips. My breath caught in my throat and all my surroundings seemed to melt away.
"Luke." I tried again, but it came out barely audible.
"Abby." He said back, and pressed his lips to mine. At first I was surprised, just thinking Luke was taunting me, but I slowly and unwillingly melted into the kiss. He pulled away and rested his forehead against mine.
"Abby.." He whispered breathlessly, and this time it was like I had the effect on him, which was a far fetched idea, yet I still found myself gasping for air- as my lungs seemed to be failing with his close proximity. I watched as he had his eyes closed, seeming to enjoy every minute of this.
'He's a player Abigail, he's just leading you on.' My mind told me, bringing me back to earth a little, even if it was only an inch. Luke opened his eyes and smiled at me, taking me all the way out of the galaxy. I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest.
"I believe I've won." He smiled. At first I thought he was talking about some corrupt way that he knew he had won over my heart, but then my surroundings came back to me and I remembered our mini golf game, and that's what he was talking about. I gained enough of my composure and managed to shoot him an annoyed look, to which he just chuckled at me. I pried myself from his grasp. His face seem to drop for a second, but he quickly gained his prince like aura again, pulling a smirk that made his face look so-
'Stop!' I yelled mentally at myself. I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest. "What are we gonna do now?" I asked, before he could do a victory dance.
"Hmm, lunch?" He suggested easily and picked up both of our golf balls to give back to the employee by the gate.
"Sure." I shrugged. We gave our clubs to the employee and walked towards his car.
"Where do you want to go for lunch?" He asked.
I shrugged, "I figured you had something already in mind." I told him. I was really up for anything. I was never one to put in my opinion, I just went along with things.
"Burgers?" He asked as he backed out of the parking spot.
"Alright." I agreed. We drove around McKinney- the city next to ours that we always had to go to if we wanted to actually do things, because our town was too small for anything except a tiny run down grocery store and a skating rink- looking for a place to eat. Finally we settled on a burger place that Jess and I usually go to. He turned off the car and we walked through the August heat, then we were hit by blast of A/C.
