"Dude, Melissa, I'm starving, like what the hell, I'm starving." I whined as I flopped into the chair in front of the door that said X- Ray, in big letters on the side. Guess what, the letters are fucking white too. What the hell is this hospital called, "St. Olaf? Because I feel like I'm in frozen with how white everything is. Oh my god, Frozen, like frozen pizza god that sounds really good; like really good, with pineapples and olives on it, oh fuck yea I need me so-
"Hadaleigh! Jesus Christ, those meds have you dazing, you alright in there?" Melissa asked me, laughing her ass off.
I pouted at her, "what are you talking about?"
"I've been saying your name for like 5 minutes, we need to finish writing out your statement before you're too completely gone for even me to get you back here." She giggled, and grabbed the pen and paper I had left on the floor.
I sighed, and slid on to the floor, "I don't want tooooooo, I'm hungry and my wrist hurts damn it!" I kicked my foot up half an inch & let it fall back down with a thud. Melissa sighed at me, and started to speak but before she could get a word out, the nurse, who happened to be a guy, came to get me.
"Hadaleigh?" The voice spoke, and I sighed, rolling my head towards the voice.
"That's me" I said, as I used Melissa to help me get up. As we started to walk towards the man, I looked him up and down, he wasn't bad looking to be honest, pretty tall, nicely built. Before I knew what was happening, I opened my mouth.
"So, what's your name?" I asked him, with a slight giggle, still holding my wrist.
"Braden," he said, looking at me amused, and made a follow me motion to either me or Mel, I couldn't care less, I got to look at this mans ass.
"Well Braden, do you come here often?" I shot him my biggest smile as he turned to look at me, he almost choked laughing at me, and I heard Melissa groan next to me. I turned to her, "what? Are you mad I'm not flirting with you too? I see you everyday, I don't need to flirt with you." I said and turned back to Braden, "well do you?"
"Yes Hadaleigh, I do. I do work here you know." He laughed, and opened a door for us to go through.
"Oh, right. I knew that." I muttered, and plopped down in the chair he pointed me towards.
"Okay Hadaleigh-" I interrupted him, "you can call me Haddie." I smiled at him, he shook his head as he chuckled and handed me a weighted down vest.
"As I was saying," he shot me pointed look, "I need you to lay your wrist out as flat as you can, and turn it to face the sky." He said, and helped me position it. As I moved it, tears welled in my eyes, he moved my arm, and suddenly they gave way. He looked at me and looked very concerned.
"Oh I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Just, do what's comfortable for you, and we'll make it work okay? I won't touch it anymore." He rushed out, and told me stay still; him and Mel went behind this wall, and took pictures. I sniffled and the tears kept flowing.
"Okay Haddie, you can put your arm back how it was. We're all done." Braden's voice came from behind the wall, and Mel rushed over to me.
"Come on Had, let's go back to the room and you can lay down." She said, and helped me stand up. I nodded, and we made our way out, "wait!" I said, and turned to Braden who was doing something still, "I'll see you later! Just hopefully not here" I said and winked at him. He just laughed and nodded. I smiled triumphantly, and strutted my way out of the room; well the best I could with my dizzy head. Mel and I walked back to the room, and waited patiently for the doctor and X-rays to come back.
"Knock knock," the door opens, as the Doctor steps in, closing it behind him.
"Hi Hadaleigh, how are you feeling?" He asked, leaning against the counter that was attached to the farthest wall, as he folded his arms over his chest.
"I'm feeling better, I can't feel my arm too much because of the meds." I said, looking at him, not bothering to sit up. I was hurt, I have a right to lie down.
"Okay, well I looked at your X-rays, and your wrist is fractured, and you have a hairline fracture. You'll have to get a cast, and wear it for 8-10 weeks. We'll make appointments with your regular doctors okay? We're going to send you to get a cast, and the police will meet you there to take your statement and talk to you both. Have a good night ladies, and be more careful Hadaleigh." I nodded sleepily, and got up.
"Okay, let's go Hads, we have to get to the 4th floor." Mel said, standing up and reaching for my hand. We followed the doctor out, and went towards the elevators.
"I have to pee, I'll meet you at the by the elevators okay?" I said as I turned without waiting for her response, and walked off towards the bathrooms. As I made my way down the hall, I held on to the wall to keep from falling over, the drugs definitely taking a tole on me.
But before I reached the bathroom, I heard a voice that stopped me dead in my tracks, even my drugged self."Well well, look what the cat dragged in? It must be fate, how's your wrist doing pretty girl?" The rough, unpleasant voice spoke from behind me. Tears welled in my eyes, knowing shadow man wouldn't be here to rescue me this time. I turned, praying I'd see someone, anyone, a nurse, but with my luck, it was the two of us. I met him face to face, and god he was wrecked. His eye swollen shut, lip bleeding, head bruised, and neck. He looked like he got jumped, and I really didn't feel bad for him. As I studied his injuries, I failed to realize how much closer he had gotten to me before he grabbed me wrist, and twisted it; he threw his hand over my mouth before I could scream, and tears came streaming down my face. He turned me around, with my back to his chest, and walked us towards the bathroom.
"Now there pretty girl, why don't we finish what we started? Whatcha say?" I couldn't scream, I couldn't breathe, before I knew, i was fading into darkness as I heard the lock on the door click.
