Jackson POV
"Jackson!" I heard my sister yell.
I jumped up from my bed and ran to the door, throwing it open with much more force than necessary. It couldn't be helped though. Not only was I on edge constantly and exhausted, but I was miserable. I had always been used to feeling Sadie's emotions and I had been without them for almost a year. To say it was driving me crazy would be an understatement.
I knew how horrible she felt the day we left, I knew how tense her body was and could hear her heart beating louder than mine. It was so hard to leave her. She had only just found out about me and the truth about herself, but what choice did I have? I couldn't let my father go alone and I couldn't sit idly by while my sister's life was being threatened. I still couldn't help but think I made the wrong decision.
The last emotion I got from Sadie was confusion and fear, I couldn't figure out why and I wasn't able to call. We were supposed to be in deep cover, not even the Alpha knew where we were. I was constantly worried over her and what was happening.
"Jackson!" I heard again, this time more frantic. I quickened my pace and pushed myself harder down the hall. We were staying in some run-down shack that we found in the middle of nowhere. It was actually quite huge, and with the right kind of attention it could be amazing, but right now it was a shack.
The room that I had picked was at the farthest end, away from everyone. I needed my own space so that I could act like a little bitch over my mate. It seemed that my distance was a horrible decision because I was practically running a marathon to get to my sister.
I rounded a tight corner and shot down the stairs. I hit the bottom step with so much force that it cracked and made me trip over my own feet. I was hit before I could regain my composure. I felt pure heat slice through my right eye and then I felt the pain of it. Without knowing what got me or why, I shifted.
Once my paws hit the hard wooden floor I took in my surroundings, I was in the large living room and I was surrounded. Hunters, at least twenty of them, were attacking. How the hell did they find us?
I pushed my confusion back and went on the defensive jumping on the first hunter I saw. I felt nothing but pure joy as he screamed in agony at the pain my nails inflicted on his back. I dug them in deeper, ripping at his neck as I did so. I had no patience left for these assholes, they attacked my pack, attacked my sister's pack, and took me from Sadie. When it came to them I only saw red.
Once the man under me quit making noises I moved on. There were still hunters in the room with me, but the wolves that could fight were fighting, so I moved on. The kitchen was connected to the living room by a small, narrow door. I ran straight for the door, catching the scent of my sister.
When I ran through the doorway I saw her. She was cowered in a corner with a silver chain draped around her small body. I could see her skin breaking down wherever the silver touched her, raw open sores took over half of her body.
There were only three hunters in the room, one standing protectively over my sister and two coming right at me. I let out a menacing growl, I wanted them to know what was about to happen. They were all going to die.
I launched myself into the air and flew right in-between the two hunters, landing safely on top of the worn out wooden table. I swung my body around quickly and went for the hunter that loomed over Brinley. I once again launched myself forward. My open mouth hit its mark, taking most of the hunter's head in my mouth, I bit down hard. I wasn't satisfied until I felt my teeth meet, only then did I believe that the bastard was dead.
