Unexpected

Chapter One - Exams

SKYLER POV

I was walking into school, feeling sick to the stomach. I was about to take my year 12 exams. I've had loads of sleepless nights studying for this very moment, yet I still don't feel ready.

I walked into the class room to see about twenty desks lined up in a few rows, every second desk facing backwards. Before I had time to even sit down at a desk, the bell rang to start a new day of school. I sat at the nearest desk to me and gulped. Our teacher explained the rules of this exam and consequences of cheating while he handed out our exam books, pencils and an eraser.

I have never been so nervous in my life as our teacher started opening his mouth to say these words.

"Your time starts........" But Geez this is a year 12 exam not an episode of master chef.. I wish he would just press the stopwatch and let us start.

"Now." Everyone flipped their front page and began to answer the questions.

I walked out of the exam nearly throwing up. I was walking so fast that I dropped all my books. A few people laughed, I was so embarrassed. I bent down to pick my books up, when they were swooped away. I looked up to see a brown haired boy smiling at me, holding my books out.

"Thanks" I said while taking my books from his hands.

"Your welcome. How did you go?"

"I don't know, I'm really nervous.. What about you ?" I asked while chewing the eraser from the tip of my pencil.

"I think I aced it!"

I laughed, "Hope so!"

"Yeah I sure do. Good luck" he said and I smiled. With that he walked down the hall, I'm guessing to head home. I opened my locker and put my books away and then left to school to go home.

I walked in to my brother, Carson answering the door,

"Oh, it's only you"

"Well duh, who else do you think it was?"

"My friend, he's coming over."

"Okay" I said, while walking into the kitchen and opening the fridge as I was so thirsty. I grabbed a bottle of water. Carson started to walk upstairs

"Arn't you gonna wait for your friend?" I asked

"Yeah but I gotta peeeee. If he knocks, answer please.. I don't want mom to answer it."

"Okay" I said while laughing. I then sat on the couch and turned on the TV, the first thing that came on was a re run of Fuller House. As i was just started to get on with the show, of course the door bell rung. Sighing, I managed to get myself off the couch and up to the front door.

I opened it to see a familiar face, a really familiar face. He was the guy who helped me with my books earlier.

"Hi again" he said

"Hi" I said while smiling.

"Where's Carson?"

"He's in the bathroom. Don't think he will be coming out any time soon, he takes his phone in there and watches cartoons"

Jacob laughed.

"Okay"

"Well come in"

"So your Carson's sister? What's your name?" He asked while we sat on the couch.

"Skylar"

"I'm Jacob, nice to meet you, again" we both laughed but it wasn't a friendly laugh, it was akward. Extremely akward.. Especially after he put his hand on my knee. As I looked down at his hand I heard someone walking down the stairs. I turned around to see Carson.

"Jacob! You here. Come on, don't let Sky bore you anymore." He said and I rolled my eyes at him.

"She wasn't boring me." He said.

"Okay.. I don't care. I gotta show u something, come in my room."
