Carmen POV

"What?!" I exclaim in shock.

"Yes. Kill me with it." Clarissa repeats.

"No. I can't." I reply.

"Give them a show. Let them be satisfied with the ending. Or you know what will happen." Clarissa counters back.

And I know exactly what would happen.

"Anyways, all they wanted was a show." Clarissa ends before she walks off.

I silently walk to the table where lunch is served. I know that today will probably be the last day I will be seeing my whole family. At least my WHOLE family.

Lunch is silent as the thoughts register in our heads. With the scores of the tributes coming out soon, there is little talk in the room. The screen flickers with light and Claudius Templesmith introduces the tributes and the scores for the private sessions.

When Clarissa's score is a ten, we all congratulate her. But really, after Dad scores a ten as well, we all are certain to stand a chance. Ashley scores a nine, which is quite strong a twelve year old.

"Interview Prepping is at 7. Be ready by then." Serena tells me and Clarissa.

We eat a scrumptious meal of Capitol soup and colorful jellies for dinner before prepping begins. Being pampered for two days, I barely need any but Clarissa does. Waxing, plucking and cleansing to name a few. From her scowl throughout the entire process, it really shows her hatred that we all share.

After that, they start the ball rolling with the older tributes that were in the previous arena. Talking about the arena, how they liked the Family Reaping, etc. etc. When it's my turn, heads are turning. I'm dressed in a simple grey dress, with a black belt wrapped around my waist. I barely wear any makeup. I just have a cheek stain on with barely any concealer.

"Well, we all knew that either one or both of the twins would come back here for a victor interview. Who knew that you would be back for another tribute interview? Anyways, what ran through you when the Districts' started burning down?" Caesar starts.

"The only thing was Don't Die. Don't Die." I reply. The audience chuckles at my remark.

"Oh, I see. But when Lux, your alliance member, turned on you, and now, knowing that karma has fallen on him, what are your thoughts on that?" Caesar continues.

"He's a --------- ass. He deserved it." I reply calmly. The audience laughs heartily at my comment.

"And the Family Reaping?" Caesar questions.

"Stupidity overload."

The audience responds hilariously. They laugh till their heart's content just as the buzzer sounds, signalling that my interview time is over. Crystal's interview goes by in a flash. Surprising, Lux doesn't get an interview. I wonder what happened. Crystal doesn't speak about the punishment inflicted. Her face was tear-stained yesterday.

Clarissa POV

I hear my name being called. I walk up stage in a flowing long sophisticated black dress. Its material is so soft. Caeser welcomes me with his bubbly attitude. I'm surprised as to how long he has lasted. What is the average age that a Capitol citizen can last to? 200? I've heard stories on Capitol citizens lasting till 300. That's like 10 times the average age of District 12's people's longevity.

I'm seated in a posh chair that is probably from Disrict One, with the luxury items.

"Well, a new tribute! Clarissa Lart! Daughter of Primrose Mellark, who is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Mellark! Remarkable! You should be gifted in the bow! However, you did a whole different story in the private sessions, didn't you? That granted you that ten. May I ask of you to explain?" Caesar starts.

"Well, Caesar. This is forbidden, isn't it? But I shall. Even my family doesn't know. I grabbed a knife and started slashing on the dummies. Finally, I sent a mace flying at the middle one. That's all. Wait, I finished it with a exciting arrow to the head." I reply.

"Well, a strong competitor alright! We have a fighter this year!" Caesar announces just as the buzzer sounds. I walk off stage, smiling just as the next tribute goes on.

Effie POV

I'm dressed in the best fashion of the Capitol. I saunter on stage, prepared with a beautiful response to every question.

Caesar is marvelous, just like every year. People bet on his age. He's predicted to live till a hearty age of 300, maybe even till 350.

"Well, Miss Effie Trinket! Beautiful as ever! So what do you think about being in this honourable Games?" He starts off.

"Well, it's truly an honour!" I announce.

"And you received a 8 for training. Tell them what did you do darling!' Caesar announces with enthusiatism.

"Well, Caesar, its really forbidden. Unlike Miss Clarissa, I'm not much of a risk taker! But I must say! It was a joy!" I cheerfully reply. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement.

"And any alliances?" Caesar pops.

"My nephew, Lux, with his new ally, Renee. That's all." I say just as the buzzer sounds. I take a curtsey on stage and walk down the stage, smiling with the biggest smile ever. I can't wait for the Games!

Carmen POV

The interviews go by in a flash. So far, I think Clarissa and Ashley did pretty well. At least, we have a chance. However, with their less than a day training, I hope that its enough to keep them going. Clarissa is an walking dictionary about edible herbs and plants and Ashley is a whiz with the tridents.

With Clarissa, we talk awhile before Serena gets us to go to wash up, In the converstation, however, something sticks through.

"You did great." Clarissa smiles.

"You too. But-" I start.

"Don't. You will win, I know it."

"How?"

"I'll just say that the show has just begun."

Confusion overwhelms me. I get drowsy, without need of anything that is connected to home. All I need is my archer set. And a strong heart.

With that, I let slumber overtake me. And I drift off, letting my nightmares take over.
