Chapter one

Chapter one: New beginnings

"Are you sure you're going to be okay, sweetheart?"

"Yeah, mom. I'm positive. It's only a couple of miles away, besides I'll call every day."

"Promise," she pleaded.

"Mom, I can't promise that, but I will try, deal."

"Deal." She smiled a watery smile on the verge of tears.

She reached for the last time, pecked me on the forehead and gave my shoulder a little squeeze.

"You'll be a good girl. No getting into trouble again know. It would to much on your father's plate."

I gave her a reassuring smile. I'll try my best mom and I promise to be careful with my powers. There's no need to worry. I can take care of myself.

"I know baby, I know."

Terminal ready to board plane. please make your way here in an orderly fashion. Thank you.

"Well, that's me mom." I gave here hand a last squeeze, suddenly unable to let go. It suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks. I was leaving my mom for the first time in a long time and it was overwhelming. I had to stay strong, for her as well as for me. I was gonna miss her so much.

I gave her one last smile, trying as best as I could not to cry and let go of her hand. Bye Mom I whispered.

And just like that, We were parting ways, as I made my way to my new life.

"Please put on your seat belt. The plane is ready for take off."

As soon as my seat belt was buckled in, I inserted my earphones and the whole world melted away.

"...please put your seat belt back. I repeat seat belts on."

I awoke with a start. I must have drifted off.

"...the plane is about to land."

I'm surprised that I even heard the announcement, the volume was pretty high. i went to reach for my headphones only to find them gone.

What the hell. That was my first initial thought. I searched for my phone high and low. I couldn't find it. i was on the brink of a meltdown. The guy next to me noticed my mini panicked state.

"Excuse me Miss, are you looking for this."

I looked towards the guy, slowly may I ask, afraid this completely strange dude wasn't messing with me or something.

Right there in the strangers hand was not only my phone but my headphones along with. How in the hell did he get that. I'll kill him. I really will.

I must have had a murderous look; before I could open my mouth to speak he quickly jumped in.

"You looked really uncomfortable, so I thought I would make things easier for you and removed it. Also your phone is locked so I didn't look in it."

I raised my eyebrows. I kinda feel a teeny bit guilty but I thought to let it go, seeing as I'll probably never see him again.

"Thank you, I think."

"You're quite welcome."

Well, that was interesting.
