There’s a very big flood going on and I don’t see many people anymore

outside the walmart parking lot

so we steal a car there, a really cool car,

you know, sleek and silver, shining at every curve;

my friend who jumped the vehicle throttles the engine with all its might

and then brakes hard, throwing us into glass or cushions.

Then we wanna get stuff from inside

where different people are at different isles taking things,

where what I’ve always wanted is in high supply

while everyone is fighting for what they need,

and before you know it we've got to run

and now the cool car is missing

and all my stuff is on the concrete;

so we try and steal another car, white and clunky,

and I keep trying to move my stuff into the trunk,

but nothing pairs up anymore- not my socks,

not these tangled cords,

none of these things,

not at all.

Now we’re all ready to go,

but nothing of mine will be coming along;

I see it hanging out the broken window:

the trunk’s comes open as we speed off

and everything I own comes unfurled out the back.

I want it all back from the wind,

but on we careen, forward

into the void.
