Stephanie's POV.
My eyes hurt... Why did my eyes hurt.
And my head is splitting, why are my eyes so heavy?
Peeling my eyes open I was met with a blinding white light. I was in a bed that wasn't my own. I- I was in a hospital room... What the actual fuc-
"Steph? Steph baby can you hear me?"
I looked over to see my worried mother rushing towards my bed. Her short brown hair swinging against her shoulders.
"Baby are you ok? How do you feel??" My mother's words came out quickly as she brushed hair back from my forehead.
"I'm fine" I say moving her hand away "I just have a headache... What happened did I - did I pass out again or something?" I questioned as my mom's worried look grew even more horrified.
I looked around the room noticing my brother asleep in the corner of the room on a chair and Carter Anderson hovering close behind my mom... Why was my best friend's step brother here? And why was his face stained with tears?
And in the other corner was another boy I'd never seen before, or maybe I had... in my bio class maybe? His tall frame was crouched down with his eyes closed and his hand arched above his brow.
"Mom what happened?" I questioned continuing to strain myself looking for any sign of Peyton my best friend and Ryan her boyfriend and another of my best friends.
"You- you were in a car accident sweetie." My mom said shakily.
"What- what happened? Are you ok??" I questioned taking in my mothers state, she was perfectly fine no cuts or even bruises the car must've just hit the passenger side...
"Baby I'm fine, see."
"Oh thank god! So it just hit the side where I was sitting or-"
"Steph you were driving..." My mom finished cutting me off.
"What?? Mom you know I can't drive, did I take the car for a joy ride or something? That doesn't sound like something I would do..."
I was only 15,the only car I'd ever driven was my dad's last year before-
"Stephanie what are you talking about?" My mom asked worriedly.
"What do you mean what am I talking about?"
"I'm going to go get the doctor quickly give me one second... Carter can you please keep an eye on her?"
"Of course ma'am" he said walking towards the chair pulled up to the side of my bed.
My brother still lay sleeping in the corner, but the other boy was now standing, watching us but keeping his distance from the bed.
"Hey Steph" he spoke quietly
"Hey Carter... Is Peyton here with you? Down in the cafe or something with Ry?"
Carter sadly laughs and forces a smile that breaks all too quickly he places his hand over one of mine and my eyes grow confused, he tries to steady his breathing as a few lose tears slip from his eyes.
I pull my hand away "Did I say something wrong or-" I question before getting interrupted.
"No... no you didn't-" Carter says, standing up his words becoming a lot faster and more shaky.
"I'm sorry I just need a minute"
as Carter leaves the room hurriedly my mother begins to re- enter the room showing the Doctor to the side of my bed before sticking her head out the door and yelling after him.
"Carter, sweetie!" My mother sighs and shakes her head coming back into the room.
The doctor was now at the foot of my bed with a clipboard and an overly peppy smile plastered on his face.
"Hello Stephanie it's good to see you awake.... I'm just going to ask you a few simple questions, is that ok?" The older man asks me as he begins to write things down onto a clipboard.
"Questions? About what?"
"Just some things about yourself!" He said enthusiastically as I nodded in agreement.
"Ok perfect! So um first... what day is your birthday?"
"May 2nd, 1997; I turn 16 tomorrow"
"Do you know today's date?"
"May 1st, 2011"
"What's your full name?"
"Stephanie Marie Sinclaire"
"Where was the last place you remembered being?"
"I was with my friends Ryan and Peyton at Ryan's house to celebrate my birthday because he was going to be at his dad's house on my actual birthday... his parents are divorced and he goes to his dads in Massachusetts for the weekends sometimes and well-"
"Ok Steph I think that's it for now" realizing I was babbling I shut my mouth smile and nod in embarrassment.
The doctor leaves the room as the unfamiliar face steps closer to my mother grabbing her shoulder for support.
She looks so distraught, and he seems to know even without looking at her.
"Steph..." My mom whispers as my eyes meet her tired ones.
"This is one of the first responders from your accident, his name is Jordan."
