"Ava you really need to get a job; you're soon going to run out of money to pay rent with. You can't live off the money your parents gave you," Addy, my roommate and best friend, said sitting on the couch searching for jobs for me on her computer. "My job's pay can only pay for half the rent, my half, I can't pay for yours too,"

"I know, god I know. It's just the only goddamn jobs available here that would work with my school schedule are bartending at run down bars. Not even the nice ones!" I said plopping down beside her with my own laptop and looking myself, "and come one you know that that wouldn't support me either." She nodded in agreement.

"What about this one?" she said pointing to a newly added position on the website.

"An assistant? For who?" I asked. It had to be for the right person or else I still wouldn't be able to afford my half of the rent.

"It just says "A.D. Graham Enterprises. But do you understand how much the owner makes year? Even if you were an assistant to a fucking janitor you could afford the rent!" she said getting excited.

"Alright I'll see, but still how do I know whoever it is I'm working for will be alright with me having to work around school hours. I know I only have about three classes a day but they all require some pretty rigorous study routines," I spoke kind of bumming myself out, "it won't hurt to apply though. Hell maybe I'll be working for Mr. Graham himself," I laughed and so did Addy.

"Alright well then get your resume ready by Monday, that's when the meetings are being held. We should get you some work clothes too Ava," she smiled. I had two days, as it was Friday. We didn't have classes on Fridays.

"Oh please, you just want an excuse to go shopping," I replied rolling my eyes. She laughed and shrugged before getting up of the couch and saying she was going to shower and get ready to take me to get some outfits.

I looked at her computer and studied the page regarding the position. It didn't give a lot of information, which made me kid of skeptical but oh well, can't hurt to check it out. Who knows, maybe it will be the greatest thig to happen to me. About an hour later, we left to go shopping, mostly for Addy's own want, but she insisted it was for me.

And as soon as we walked into the first store, I was proven right. She immediately headed for the stores I would shop in, you know, if we hadn't come here to buy nice work clothes. I don't really even know why we came; I didn't even go in for an interview yet so I probably don't need to buy these clothes right now, if ever for this job. Although I should at least get one outfit for the interview itself. I watched Addy shop around, though I did buy some normal clothes myself, before she found me in the store on a bench. She tried to frown but failed and smiled as she apologized for only focusing on her but I just laughed and told her I knew it would happen. She rolled her arms then grabbed my arm and led me out of the store.

"Alright, we are actually going to shop for you now," she laughed.

"Addy, remember, I don't even have the job yet. I only need one outfit for the interview," I said smirking.

"I suppose. Fine okay well we are going to get you a good outfit for this damn interview. Even if it's for the janitor, you are still going to look good." She said smiling and I laughed.

We walked into some higher end stores and I tried on some things before deciding on a pair of black skinny slacks, a black blazer, and a white blouse underneath. I got a pair of black, ankle strap, low, stilettos to finish the outfit. It looked very professional yet still fashionable and proper. I paid for the achingly expensive clothes, that I definitely needed this job to pay for, and left with Addy.

"You looked so good in that outfit Ava! I wished I was going to an interview just so I could wear it, I loved it!" Addy gushed as we arrived home.

"Thanks Adds! I should probably prepare more than an outfit for this though. I'll work on my resume tomorrow and maybe you can put in a few words for me?" I asked her.

"I suppose," she winked and I laughed, "anyway what do you want to eat? We literally have nothing but cereal and poptarts. We should've just stopped and got something on the way home,"

"Let's just order a pizza, I'm tired from today anyway. It takes a lot of energy to comment on every outfit you try on," I laughed and she hit my arm, trying to be mad.

"Oh please," she rolled her eyes as I picked up my phone and ordered a pizza for us.

"It'll be here in about thirty minutes," I said before walking to my room and changing into some gym shorts and an old shirt.

When the pizza arrived we ate and watched some movies on Netflix before calling it a night and headed to bed. I fell asleep around midnight after finally pulling myself from my phone.

"Is this good Addy? I don't really know what else to put, I don't have a lot of job experience so what else am I supposed to put? It looks so bad; I have like nothing typed!" I said worrying thst my few job experiences won't be enough to get me this job.

"Just add in about how your work schedule would have to be. Like tell about how you're in college and that you might not be able to work full time," she said, "it's better to put it in there then have the person find out if you are hired and then fire you for it," I nodded and added in some more things and eventually it filled up.

I reread it over and over and then made Addy do the same. I then called my mom, as she has plenty of business experience and she said that if I came to apply for a job at her firm, she would hire me in an instant, but somehow I believe that's the mom in her talking. My parents owned a law firm here in the city and though she had plenty of money to just hand over to pay for our rent, she wanted me to earn it. I know she would never let Addy and I not have enough money for us but I would like to work for this, like my mom and dad did for so many years. They could sit on their asses for the rest of their lives and still be very well off with money. They liked that I didn't depend on their money. I mean I did there when Addy and I first moved in but after a growing up a bit, I've learned to live off myself and not rely on daddy's money to get me through. It's made me a hell of a lot wiser though. When I got off the phone with her, I printed my finalized resume and stuck it in a white folder, along with some contacts that the job website said to include.

"Alright Ava, I'm leaving now. I'll tell my family you said hey. If you need anything call me. See ya!" Addy said walking out the door. She was out to dinner with her family to celebrate her brother's new job. I was invited but I turned it down, as I was busy working on my resume all day.

I warmed up some pizza from last night and sat on the couch watching television all night. Addy came home around eleven and woke me up from my sleep on the couch and took me to my room. I fell right back asleep as soon as I hit the pillow and slept until about 10:40 the next morning.

When I got up Addy was sitting at the table on her laptop doing some assignment from one of her classes. She briefly talked to me about the dinner last night before diving into whatever it was she was working on.

Before I knew it, we were headed to bed after another dinner of left-over pizza. Sooner than later it would be Monday and I would be off to my interview.
