Natas sat in her room at midnight, as she did every night, staring at the wall on the other side of her bedroom and whispered. I could never understand full sentences, just little words or fragments would stand out sometimes, other times you couldn't hear anything at all. She rarely ever talked, so when you hear her talking to a wall in a dark room at midnight saying things like "death doesn't have to be so easy, we could make it very painful..." It gets kind of scary.....

My family adopted little eight-year-old Natas a few months ago... Her family died in a house fire when she was five. When the fire department arived, she was standing in her front yard staring at the fire which was illuminating her face as she held her scruffy teddy bear.

"It's too late, they're already dead. It's okay, I know," she had told the firemen as the ran out of their monstrous red truck. Slowly, she turned her face towards the men and smiled softly. "I'm not afraid, I knew this was going to happen."

The cops searched through her teddy bear and clothes, mostly out of fear of the little girls demonic actions at the scene, the other part because they found it to be the safest idea. The child's toy disturbed the law enforcers,  they had came to realize that the buttons that the company had put in place of eyes for the bear had been ripped off of its face and replaced with large 'X's  sown with red string and the stomach of the stuffed animal was sliced open in a perfectly straight line and sown back together with that same red thread.... They opened the tummy of the bear and searched through the stuffing.... inside they found matches, a miniature jack-in-the-box, and a charred picture of her family.... the only people left in the picture were her and her father.

The last thing that really made me, a fifteen year old girl, nervous around that girl.... All of her previous families after her biological family had been killed in some freak accedent, but every time that little girl hadn't a scratch on her body. Not hurt at all. Each time she would be somewhere safe from the accedent holding her raggedy stuffed animal, sometimes she would be found singing nursery rhymes like "Humpty-Dumpty" or "Ring Around the Rosey."

Natas father had injected her with his own diabetic blood, as though he knew she would later be a demonic killer, daughter three to five times a week when she was only a baby until the mother had found out and gotten him arrested. As Natas grew older her curiosity about her father grew with her. Her mother, Veronica, had told Natas he father was killed at a bank robbery and her older siblings had agreed with her. Lilly, her eldest sister who would be about my age now, had only shrugged and told Natas "I wouldn't remember him, he died when I was a baby Natas. We don't like to talk about him, okay?"

I could picture her now as she sat it her room and talked as if she were talking to Satan himself. Her dark, dark brown eyes almost matched the color of her pupils stared into the darkness, long curly black hair covered her small shoulders and her straight cut bangs fell across her forehead. I could hear her out of my thoughts, in real life. In her soft, nerve racking voice she whispered "Sophie. I know your there. You should leave. My daddy doesn't like you."

Out of nowhere my body began to shake and shiver. Goosebumps raised all over my body. "What," I began to say, but my thoughts quickly stopped me. What will she do or say if I ask? What if I tell her that her father isn't here? That he's in jail? I don't want me or my family to end up like her old ones.....  Not wanting to know, I only swapped out my question for a new one. "Natas why are you still awake? It's almost 1 in the morning."

Her door slowly squeaked open and the little child stepped out, holding the teddy bear under her small arm. "Go to sleep. I don't want to hurt you yet. Its not your time yet....." she turned around and quietly shut the door behind her. Once I heard her sit back down and continue to talk, I got up and sprinted back to my bedroom and locked the door behind me. I gasped for breath, and terrified I started to cry softly, for I did not wish to wake my parents.

"Hello Sophie," a voice child's voice whispered from behind me. Slowly, I turned around to see Natas standing behind me. Smiling. I've never seen her smile, and now that I've seen her smile, I never wanted to see it again. It wasn't like a normal eight year olds cheerful smile, it was sharp and crooked. Her eyes flickered from brownish-black to completely back with red shards of light glowing in them. Her body flickered and she was no longer a girl, she was a small boy. Then she flickered again and again and again until I saw all of her past families and their members. Then.... it was me. I was the new face and body of Natas. She mirrored my every movement, still holding her teddy bear. Suddenly, she broke out of the mirror phase and began to tear open the stomach of the stuffed toy and retrieve a metal knife. "Don't worry, this won't hurt much."

Slowly, ever so slowly, she advanced towards me as she raised the knife to waist level and her creepy smile returned to her, no, my face. For every step she took to me, I took two back. As I slowly cornered my self without knowing it, I realized that she had every intention to kill me, and she was taking my features. Did that mean I was almost killing myself? I wasn't to sure but I was now aware that I was not going to have much space to back up and I didn't have anywhere to go. What was the point of fighting something so impossible to avoid?

"Natas? Why are you doing? Why are you doing this," I asked as tears streamed down my face. My face started to warm and my head started to throb. Why was I getting a headache right now? Proborally stress of death, and why was I thinking of useless stuff right now?

Underneath me, I felt something sit itself behind my ankles and I fell hard onto the floor of my bedroom and slammed my head onto the wall behind me, when I looked up I saw all of the family members Natas had killed smiling crookedly at me and Natas, or me, standing over me.

"You'll make a great advantage in the plan. We need you. Daddy says you're one of the main pieces. Thank you," she stated as she dropped her toy and grasped onto the handle of the knife with both hands and raised it high above her head and then laughed wildly and drove the knife down towards my stomach.
