At first glance, no one would be able to tell it was noon. Thunder rumbled across a black sky, rain fell in sleets, and fog rolled in slowly, nearly consuming everything. It looked to be nighttime, and the people of Harux Village acted as if it were night. No one was out in the heavy rain, rather than the homeless and a few stubborn locals trying to get errands done.

She was practically starving. That must've been how she had wandered into the city without even realizing it. She intended to stay out in the wilderness, slipping from base to base like always but her stomach led her elsewhere. She'd been here only for two months yet no one knew of her presence here in this small town, and she wanted to keep it that way.

well until the old man figures out someone is stealing his strawberries, she thought, licking her lips as she ran across the lawn, still sticking to the shadows that camouflaged her well." I can still eat."

She was out of luck as men wearing a suit of armour burst through.

"Where is that brat?" one of the two men asked.

"I don't know, but she's got to be around here somewhere. Robbers can't hide forever."

The girl ran down the alleyway, her footsteps echoing in the emptiness

She didn't dare take more than a box of fruit and a loaf of bread, though. If word got out that she was here, she'd be dead. If anything, she made a name for herself in the worst way possible.

She did try to make an honest Living But hardly anyone would give her so much as a second glance. Perhaps if she was younger, someone would have shown mercy.

She sighed at the memory, stopping in about the eighth alley she ran through. She used all her strength to jump as she managed to grasp onto the wall. She pulled herself up as she jumped over. Carefully her feet gracefully landed quietly on the grass. She took off in a sprint as she ran into the forest.

She leaned against a large oak tree, staring at the loaf of bread in her hands. She bit into it quick, only in order to break her train of thought.

No use in fawning over the past, what's done is done.

The bread was gone too quickly, according to both her mind and her stomach. She gritted her teeth, rubbing her palms together.

She glanced around, making sure no one was watching. No trouble, she needed absolutely no trouble.

Smirking in her solitude, a wisp of fire danced out of her palms. She leaned up against the tree, so as to protect the fire from the falling rain. Rain meant good cover, yes, but it also meant cold.

She smiled to herself, leaning her head back, closing her eyes. Yes, this was the life for her, as nothing but a shadow, a secret, always on the run. Soon everyone would forget about the notorious Moonshadow they called her and go on with their lives, maybe then could she come out of her hole and rejoin society. But until then, she practically wasn't anywhere at all.

She exhaled, and then her eyes snapped open. She wasn't alone. She could sense it, even if there didn't seem to be anyone in sight. Willing the fire away, she got to her feet as fast as she could.

Whoever it was, they were too close now, even for her. There was no way she could escape; she let himself get distracted too easily this time. Her hand went to the knife she kept in her back pocket, the other barley lit with fire.

A soilder. Most likely on patrol...

She panicked as she jumped on a dumpster and on to the wall, along with a smaller figure on her shoulder.

"Moonshad-!" A man's voice called out. Just as he was about to grab his sword, he was quickly struck down. Blood was dripping on his hand that once gripped his blade. Then another pain to his other hand. Then the right shoulder. Three scalding daggers had pierced his body.

The blade was covered in an orange glow, as the now melting iron had burnt his shoulders.

He winced as he quickly dropped to his knees

With a quick glance you could see a cat shaped shadow along with another shadow cast over the moon as they quickly disappeared.

________

Tasir City
52 miles away from Harux Village

The night sky stretched across the capital. The hour was late and all seemed calm, until there was a blood chilling scream from one of the houses. After a few moments a lone dark figure jumped over the house walls and landed on the street without a sound and quickly took off down a nearby street corner as guards began to pour out and searching the surrounding area.

"Find him! Don't let his escape...again..."
