"Brett! Come down here! I have something to talk to you about!" I heard my dad's low voice call me from the main floor of our house.

I exited out of YouTube and closed my laptop.

What is it this time? I thought to myself as I left my average teenage boy room. Gray walls and blue bed with a desk. Yup, average.

I stomped down the stairs and entered the living room to see my dad sitting on the old tan couch that we have had since I was a little kid.

When I was little, I would always jump on that couch. The tan couch had cushions that you could take off, so I would use chairs, blankets, and the cushions to build forts. They were some of my fonder memories from my childhood.

I approached my dad thinking of all of the fun times we had had on that couch.

"We need to talk," he half whispered.

This is weird. Why is my dad so upset? This NEVER happens. He is one of those people that never gets upset or worried or anything! He is one of the most chill people I know!

"Why? If it's about school, then you know that I try my best, and if something is wrong then I swear it wasn't me..." I trailed off when I saw the upset look on my dads face.

"No, it's not about school, Brett...but do you remember mom?" He questioned me with a look I had never seen before in his eye. If I looked closer, he eyes were gleaming. Was he...crying?

"No, and I have no idea where you're going with this," I said, the confusion practically dripping from my voice.

"Well, I think it's about time I told you about your mother, since you are graduating your third year of high school after all." My dad sighed. "You deserve to know the whole story."

"Umm...okay?" This was strange behavior for my dad, leaving me questioning what he meant by 'the whole story.'

"What are you going to tell me about her?" As far as I knew, she was just a regular person, taken by death before her time.

"Everything." My dad sighed.
