My family loved Boston Terriers,
We have only ever had Bostons,
Duke was a "fearless" pup,
While Anny was really hyper,
They were the most amazing dogs,
Duke had a fear of lightning,
He always wanted to protect the family,
But when it came to lightning,
He wasn't very brave,
He'd try to protect us,
But in the end he would just cuddle up,
Shaking in a ball on our lap,
July fourth was the worst,
But he would try,
And fail,
To protect us,
Anabell had some form of ADD,
She had a problem with licking,
She'd lick everything,
Even air,
Why air?
I don't know,
They were good pups and were part of the family,
But one day something horrible happened,
We developed flees,
It was a particularly hot summer,
and flees were sweeping our neiborhood,
The problem with our house specifically,
Is that we were bankrupt,
No money,
No food,
Nothing,
The dogs became sickly,
Anny would try to chew the flees off of her back,
But she ended up chewing off her hair,
Duke became infested,
But he tried to stay strong,
Now lightning wasn't the scariest thing any more,
They weren't able to eat much,
Neither were we,
They became sick,
So did we,
Anabell was an escape artist when it came to the back yard,
And she was so skinny now,
She could fit through the fence with ease,
One day she escaped and a kind woman walked by,
She called the police,
"I found this dog at this house and she looks horrible,
She's sick and hairless and flee infested,
She looks like she hasn't eaten in weeks,"
She wouldn't let us have our dog back,
Until the police arrived,
They did,
They saw the animals,
and they saw my legs,
My legs had been eaten by the flees,
They said that they were going to take Duke and Anabell away,
To a better home,
We couldn't do anything,
They put them in there car,
I got one last chance to say goodbye,
I couldn't touch them because of the flees,
I couldn't even pet there head as I cried.
"Goodbye Duke, goodbye Anny,
Your gonna go to good homes now,
Your gonna be ok,"
I cried,
The police men helped me out,
They too, had tears in there eyes,
They didn't want to do this,
but they had to,
They closed up the car and pulled away,
And with that,
My dogs were gone,
I never saw them again...
I hope they have better homes now,
I do,
I hope they were kept together,
My family wasn't,
I miss my pups..
