"Where's Harris?" Mr. Foreman asked our class during role call. He obviously knew he was in school today, I mean everyone knew he was at school but there's no guarantee he actually stayed at school today.
"I know that he is here today, I saw him in the hall before class. Someone better spill it or no one will be going home when the bell rings." Mr. Foreman threatened.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" one student yelled.
"Are you serious?" another shouted.
"Where the hell s Harris? I'm going to kill him if I get in trouble for being late to practice!"
Students all around the room started spitting out angry words about Harris. No one wanted to stay after school. It was the last class of the day and everyone seemed to be ready to go home. It's my birthday so I definitely am ready to leave too. I'm tired and bored an just ready to relax with my mom at home.
I doodled on my notebook paper over the bell ringer I didn't answer. I don't have anyone I speak to in this class and since that is the way it is, I sit in the back of the class in the middle row. I'm fairly quiet and keep to myself anyway so it's not a problem for me. My mom says I need to make more friends but it's senior year and it's a bit too late to be making more friends. Everyone by now knows how everyone else in the class acts and everyone has their cliques and I'm not really interested in being in any other group besides my own.
"I'm here, I'm here! Calm yourself Fredrick." Harris said barging into the class with one hand in his pocket and the other holding onto his red back pack that hung over one of his shoulders. He smirked at the girls in the front of the class and she giggled and smiled back. He sat down in an empty seat next to the windows by his best friend Kaleb.
"Don't call me by my first name Mr. Harley. Where have you been young man?" Mr. Foreman crossed his arms waiting for an answer.
Harris slouched down in his seat with a smirk still plastered on his face.
"Just had to meet up with somebody, that's all." he replied, giving a look to his friends who where giving him pats on the back and fist bumps.
There's one thing that could've translated to and everyone knew it. He was with his girlfriend Brooke. She's the school slut. That's kind of harsh, I prefer to call her the classy hoe. It's really a shame because she is so gorgeous but there's not one guy in our graduating class or the classes before us that she hasn't mess around with. If they had a jock rep or any popularity shine to them, she already had her eye on him and she'd easily cross them off her list. For as many relationships that she has ruined I'm so surprised she hasn't got the shit beat out of her. All the guys want her no matter how many times she's been penetrated by different guys. I fin hat extremely disgusting and pitiful.
"Anyway," Mr. Foreman continued, clearing his throat. "Destiny Moore?"
My name was called and the noise of everyone's voices calmed. I looked up from my paper, moving my hair from in front of my face.
"I'm here." I replied. Just as I spoke, Harris looked in my direction and smiled. When I didn't respond the way he was used to, he shamefully turned around in his seat. All I did was give him a blank look. Oh well.
Mr. Foreman started to teach history, I paid no attention. I would hear his words every now and then like when he would get a hasty tone and tell Harris and Kaleb to stop talking.
"That's it! Harris, go sit at the back of the class away from Kaleb. Now!" Mr. Foreman boomed with annoyance.
With laughter, he got up and walked to the back of the class and sat in an empty seat right next to mine. My ears started to heat up and I leaned my head down so that my hair would cover more of my face. Yes, I was getting nervous. Harris may be a cocky moron but he is a very attractive moron.
Surprisingly he was quiet for the rest of the class.
Once the last bell of the day rang I gathered my books and left the class as quickly as I could. I went straight to my locker and shoved everything inside.
"Destiny! Wait up!" A voice I recognized too well spoke. I turned to the voice as he approached.
"Hey Riker." I said as we started making our way out the school building.
"How was history class?" He asked knowing I hated that class.
I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"Well, the usual. Harris almost made the class stay after school, he wouldn't stop talking to Kaleb and he got moved to the back of the class which unfortunately means he sat next to yours truly. I just don't get it, why he feels the need to act the way he does. We both know he's putting on a show." I say walking down the front stairs and onto the sidewalk.
"Since sophomore year, he has changed, got in with the 'in crowd' and left us behind. Oh, but let's not forget to mention he has a hot ass girlfriend." Riker said with a chuckle and waiting for me to punch him in the arm.
"You disgust me." I grunted back.
"But she is hot though."
"Seriously you're going to make me gag." I started walking faster, leaving Riker a few steps behind.
"Oh come on Destiny! I was joking! well, I mean she is very attractive but definitely would not want to hit that."
"Why not? Is it the excessive and wide variety of dick that she's welcomed in her forest or is it because she's a total bitch and would never get with you or look at you for that matter." I snapped. Riker knew what I said was harmless. Riker is a very handsome guy and he knows it enough to have humble confidence that not even I can tear down, which I truly admire him for that.
"Ouch, feisty! What is up you're butt today?" He laughed but then paused which meant he figured out what was wrong with me. I kept walking as he stood in place before running in front of me stopping my travel.
"I am so terribly sorry! I'm such a bad best friend." He said pulling me into a hug.
"Yeah you kinda are." I replied.
"I can't believe I forgot today is your birthday! You know what, I'm going to make it up to you. Let's go see your mom." He started pulling me along toward my house where my mom's car was parked.
