*Hermione's Pov*

I couldn't believe it, I was finally going back. Back home. I checked my stuffed trunk, picked up my wand  and took one last look around my flat before heading outside. As the door swung shut behind me, I sighed in relief as there were no reporters to be seen. Especially Rita Skeeter. Man I hate her. My mind flashed back to when I was in my 4th year, and Skeeter gave us so much trouble. Poor Hagrid. So much happened back then. The Triwizard Tournament. The Yule Ball. Ron. I felt butterflies in my stomach as I thought his name. The kiss we shared in the chamber felt enchanted, but that was 4 months ago. A lot could happen in 4 months.

I apparated onto the platform and strode briskly through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4. Suddenly, I was attacked by a ginger mess.

"Hermione ! Your finally here ! I've missed you sooo much. " Ginny shrieked while hugging me

"Ginny ! I missed you too!" I squealed back

"I'm here to ya know" said a person behind Ginny.

"Harry !"

"Hey 'Mione" I wrapped an arm around Harry and gave him a hug.

"Hey ..." Ron said nervously.

"Hi ...." I replied even more nervously.

If this is how it'll be all year .... gosh.

The train gave its whistle and Ginny drove me inside to our compartment, followed by the boys. Ginny only left my side to sit next to Harry. So I was stuck next to Ron. I purposely left my right hand by my side, wondering what his reaction would be, but he quickly reached down to grab at his broom. My hand returned to my lap as I was filled with regret. Our awkward silence was only penetrated by a rather loud knock on the compartment door. It was Malfoy. His expression was cold, calculating and calm. The perfect mix. His eyes narrowed as they drifted over Harry, Ginny and Ron but when they landed on me, they seemed to soften. Nonsense I told myself, but my imagination was winning. His blond hair was draped just above his left eye, casting the look of a brave protagonist. But, I reminded myself, he was the antagonist. My day dreams where cast aside as his gaze sharpened on my and he said in a smooth voice

"Granger, McGonnagal wants to see you."

Alone with a Slytherin, oh boy. I hope my right hook has improved. I edged past him, feeling incredibly small. His eyes were fixated on my the whole time.

"Earth to stalker" I said, sounding a good deal more confident than I felt. He raised his eyebrow and I felt worried. But instead, he simply smirked. Bending into a bow, he looked up and said

"My formal apologies, Granger. I do hope I haven't angered thy Gryffindor Princess."

I gave a small grin and said

"Not at all, thy Slytherin Prince. Though shall not be roused"

We locked eyes and smirked. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad?
