Chapter 4: The Unversed/Roxas and Ventus

Ventus thought he had the most amazing dream last night, that Aqua and Terra were there, not missing. As he woke up, he looked over his shoulder to see that the alarm clock read that it was ten in the morning. So he hopped out of the bed and went looking for Riku and Sora. So far no sign of them in the village or on the beach. He then remembered that they could be at the island from last night. But there were no boats left on the beach. So he improvised and used his glider to get across the water.

And just as he thought, I saw Riku walking from the back to the front of the island. "Hey, Riku!" Riku looked at Ventus before he smiled and walked over, "Hey Ventus, crazy night huh?" Ven nodded and responded, "Yeah..." Then he remembered why he was here in the first place, "Hey Riku, where's Sora?" Riku pointed to a door, "He's in the back of the island, but-" "Thanks Riku!" Ventus ran to the door before Riku grabbed his shirt, "But... You might wanna leave him be for now, he and Kairi are back there right now asleep," Riku chuckled while Ven gave a look of confusion.

"Who's Kairi?" He looked as if he was full of pride. "Kairi is the girl you helped save on the island last night." Ven remembered the red haired girl, "The girl with red hair?" Riku nodded, "Yup, and right now Sora is becoming a man and has probably asked her out by now." It took him a second to process what he said before Ven realized something.

"Wait... How come you're proud of Sora when you don't have a somebody special?" Riku hesistated a second before he turned around, "Because, well... I won't go into detail, but she disappeared. She was a good drawer, but I think her shyness got in the way of herself a lot. But she is gone, but isn't at the same time." Ven got it now, at least he thought to. Riku wasn't ready probably, but he won't call him out on it.

The two shared a few laughs waiting for Sora and Kairi to get up and around.

"..."

The small king had been in his study for the past few hours as his madter had asked the king to look into something for him. The kings two best friends walked in as he was finishing. The tall dog with the shield was his captain for Disney Castle, the duck was his court magician. "Gee Mickey maybe you should go get some rest pal!" Mickey, or the king, looked up, "Hm? Oh I'm fine Goofy! But thanks for the consideration!" The mouse smiled, he wouldn't be here without these two people, and several others.

"But your majesty! You haven't gotten any sleep for awhile," Donald spoke up loudly, Goofy nodding in agreement. Theye shared some old stories and joked around while he worked. "Hey Donald, Goofy, could you two ask Chip and Dale how the new Gummi Ship is coming along?" They nodded and left. While they were gone, Mickey felt as if he wasn't alone in the room. But he was the only one in here...

He whipped around when he heard a hiss, and saw that there was a creature behind him, ready to strike. It jumped at Mickey, missing barely as he ducked, the monster slamming into the door and running out.
Could that have been what Master Yen Sid warned him about? He summoned his Kingdom Key D and swithched the chain out for the Star Seeker keychain. The keyblade flashed before reappearing as a starry night type of key that was purple in color.

Mickey kumped over the desk and chased the strange monster, running out the door to hear Goofy and Donald scream. He looked off of the balcony to see they were surrounded by some Heartless and Nobodies. Mickey jumped down slashing multiple of the enemies to bits before standing by Donald and Goofy. "Guys there's too many of them!" Goofy exclaimed, "Dont worry fellas, just do what we practiced!" When Mickey gave them the signal, and used Graviga on Goofy to make him hover about six feet from the ground. "Together!" Donald stood behind Mickey, casting Thunder onto Goofy's shield, before he threw the shield at Mickey.

Goofy would throw the shield and Mickey would knock it back with charged magic right at the monsters, killing them instantly. By the time all the monsters were gone, they had finally been able to heal up real quick. Mickey casted Cura on Donald and Goofy. "Gee you two, you've gotten pretty strong!" Donald and Goofy talked in unision, "We learned from the best!" They all laughed before going to check on Chip and Dale. They walked in to see a standard Unversed chasing them around. "Your majesty, help us!" Dale and Chip screamed before he threw the keyblade at the Unversed, killing it once the keyblade made contact.

Mickey resummoned his weapon and turned to my two engineers to make sure they were okay. "Thanks Mickey!" Chip said. "Yeah! What Chipper said!" They talked and helped them put the ship together as the Unversed had knocked out some parts. Chip spoke up, "Excuse me, Mickey? Isn't it strange how the Unversed are showing up again?" That hit the mouse king like a brick. "Wait a sec fellas. Chips right! Those Unversed cant be passed off as a coincidence!" All of them realized something instantly. The Unversed showing up again meant something. That Xehanort had gotten a new apprentice. Or that... "We need to report in to Yen Sid!" Before they got into the Gummi Ship, Mickey went told Minnie and Daisy that they'd be at Yen Sids tower. He ran and hopped into the Gummi Ship and the ship took off towards The Mysterious Tower. Mickey thought perhaps they would make an extra stop along the way.

"..."

Sora slowly started to wake up and remembered what happened the night before. He realized that Kairi was laying on his lap and smiled. Sora remembered last night so well, defeating Vanitas, who strangely, looked exactly like him, and he finally admitted his feelings for Kairi. She looked adorable when she slept. "Kairi, time to wake up..." When he said that, she slowly opened her eyes. She looked at him, still half asleep, so he decided to do a joke, a throwback perhaps.

In a mocking voice, Sora said, "Wake up, you lazy bum!" She chuckled and finally spoke, "You must think your so funny!" "Yep!" The two laughed before getting up and dusting sand out of our clothes. They headed towards the beach and saw Riku and Ventus talking. That's when Kairi gasped, "Roxas is here!?" Sora looked at her funny before realizing what she was talking about, "Nope, wrong. That's not Roxas, his name is Ventus. Though it is strange as he does look like Roxas." They sat up on the branch on the palm tree by Ventus.

They all sat and asked Ventus questions, as he would ask some about them. The questions eventually led up to Ventus asking why they all said he looked so much like Roxas, and who Roxas was. Before Riku could speak, Kairi answered for him, "Ven, you know how a Heartless and Nobody are formed?" Kairi replied before Ventus gasped, "How could you say that?! I know there are mean people, but thats kinda uncalled for!" The three all burst out laughing, Ventus giving them a confused look in the meantime.

Riku spoke up, "No Ventus, we don't mean people, we mean creatures created from the darkness." Ven was silent for a second. "So... like Unversed?" None of them knew what an Unversed was. "Yeah... Anyways... When a person is defeated or the darkness gets a grip on them, their body is destroyed, leaving nothing but a Heartless behind, heartless are pure darkness that gather hearts and wish to use them, but they can't. There are Heartless called a 'Shadow,' when defeated, they just disappear. But any other Heartless that's defeated, releases a heart. And those gather to Kingdom Hearts itself."

Ventus started to look more intrigued by the minute. "And a Nobody is?" Ven questioned. Riku answered with, "Nobody's are the empty shells left behind when someone dies, they are created alongside the Heartless from the person who died. But they can't carry hearts, they can only show emptiness and pretend to have a heart. And those are basically the meanings of a Heartless and Nobody."

After Ventus was filled in, Sora ran to the shed on the beachfront and ran back to the tree with a picture before handing it to Ven. "What's this?" Kairi pointed to the middle of the picture and Ventus looked at the photograph. "Is that... Me? But who are these people?" Kairi shook her head, "Again, its not you, that's Roxas." Ventus looked amazed, fascinated even, you could tell he wondered why Roxas looked almost exactly like him.

They all sat quietly after Sora went to put the photo back. Ventus ran to the back of the island as he said he left something important back there by accident last night. The moment he reached the back of the island, a Gummi Ship landed on the other side of the front of the island. Sora, Riku, and Kairi all instantly knew who it was. Sora smiled and ran up to the ship, with Riku and Kairi behind him. It had been so long since they had seen their friends.
