I ran down the sidewalk, in nothing but pajamas, as my bare feet slapped on the concrete.

I was breathing so heavily that I felt like I was about to pass out. Definitely not a fan of running.

I must've been running for miles, because at this point, I was already at the hospital.

I ran through the automatic doors and up to the front desk.

"Neptune." I breathe heavily.

"What was that ma'am?" The woman asks.

"Neptune. I mean uh...Lane Namara." I say.

"Relation to her?" The woman asks, looking through her computer.

"Uh, friend." I say.

"I'm sorry, only family is allowed in at the moment." The woman says.

"What?!" I exclaim. This was unfair.

"Please take a seat she is in recovery right now." The woman smiles.

I sit down and moments later, Ashton is next to me.

"Hey Rylie. How are you doing?" He asks in a low voice.

I don't say anything.

"Rylie. the nurses said everything is going to be okay. She's fine." Ashton sighs and places a hand on my back.

I stand up, trying to get away from his touch.

"Don't touch me!" I raise my voice and Ashton's hand was raised out

"Rylie, sit down, I'm sorry." he sighs

"No!" I exclaim.

I begin running down the hall that patients were in.

"Excuse me!! Ma'am! You cannot go in there!!!" The woman at the front desk yells.

"Rylie! Rylie! Stop!" Ashton yells.
I continue to run down the hallway.

She's in recovery.

I keep repeating that in my head.

I'm running aimlessly.

I look in the windows of the doors that I pass by as I run, until I see the word "RECOVERY." in big, bold, green letters hanging from the ceiling.

I slowed my pace a bit and looked in the windows.

"NEPTUNE!" I yell on accident, as I see her in a bed in a room.

I peak through the window, making sure no doctors were in there.

I turn the handle and shut the door quickly behind me.

She lifts her head up, looking miserable.

"H-hey Ryls." she says.

"Neptune you promised me to stop!" I say, trying to keep my voice down but failing miserably.

"I know. I just couldn't help it. You weren't home. It seemed like a good idea." She shrugs.

I sigh and sit down on a chair in the corner of the room.

"Rylie..." Neptune says, in a way that I'm supposed to answer.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"Pull the plug." She whispers and points at the plug in the wall.

Tears begin to well in my eyes.

"No." I whisper, holding them back.

"Please!" she almost yells, scaring me a bit.

"Neptune stop! You don't know what you're doing." I yell as she begins to get out of bed to get to the plug that was pumping her blood.

I hold her back.

"Please, I just don't want to be here." She cries, and pushes me as if that pulling that plug will make everything better.

I know I had to do something.

I press the red button on the side of her bed and continue to hold her back.

Seconds later, doctors and nurses are rushing in and taking her and holding her to the bed.

They inject her with something and in a moment, she's asleep.

"You need to leave." A nurse says and begins to push me out of the hallway.

I'm left a sobbing mess in the waiting room.

Calum comes over and tries to get me to leave the hospital, patting my back and escorting me to the door.

I slap his hand off of me.

"Stop!" I say.

"Rylie, you need to calm down. She's gonna be fine." He says.

"No she's not! She's mentally fucked! Just like me!" I yell.

"Rylie, what?" Calum asks.

I shake my head.

"It was a mistake. You were a mistake." I say. "I shouldn't have gotten involved with you."

I run down the sidewalk all of the way home.

I run upstairs into the bathroom and wipe my eyes and take deep breaths in.

I step on something, and I look down the see a cold, blood stained blade.

Drops of blood coated my bathroom floor and Neptune's hoodie.

I examine the blade sitting on the ground. "Gillette." It read, it must've been her dads, because I knew damn well that Neptune used Schick, and her mom used some weird laser thing to remove her hair.

I pick up the blade, throw it in the toilet and flush it.

I begin to pick up all of her clothes that were scattered on my bedroom floor and throw them into the washing machine and start the load.

I put all of her stuff in her suitcase and placed it in the corner of my room.

She was coming back.

There was no need to walk that extra block to get it to her.

She'd be back.

I pulled a little bouncy ball out of my pocket. One I had found while I was at Ashton's house. One that me and Neptune had played with.

I took a huge gulp and sat on my bed, not removing my eyes from the little bouncy ball that I kept rolling around in my palm.

Eventually, my eyes went out of focus, something they did a lot when I stared at something for too long. I didn't mind though. Nothing really mattered at this point, besides her safety.

For the first time in 40 minutes, I looked over at my nightstand.

It was nagging me to open its drawer, so I did.

Inside, sitting at the top, was a pencil sharpener and a tiny screwdriver. The kind that I had used on my tech decks when I was younger.

No.

You really think doing what Neptune did would make you feel better ABOUT what Neptune did?

I sigh and close the drawer.

I curl up on my bed and let sleep take me over.
