I don't know why, but I really like the dead. I like them way more than the living. Maybe it's because they don't have long, boring talks about pointless things or about how advanced their child is over someone else's.
Maybe it's because I don't really talk myself. I mean, I'm mute. A mute FBI agent that likes spending time around dead people. Weird, right?
No. Not really. I don't find it weird. People stare at me, judge me, just because I'm not like them. The dead don't do that. They're dead. They don't do much of anything.
Except tell the truth.
There's one really good reason why I like the dead the most. The dead, believe it or not, tell me what really happened to them. All you have to do is look hard enough. People lie, it's human nature. People lie about killing other people. The dead can't lie. They're dead. Marks on their bodies, their time of death, how they died, it all gets told to me by simple observation. They tell me who took their life. I'm the one that sees that they get their just desserts.
I really hate the living.

Eighteen parents have gone missing, leaving 25 children in the hands of police and foster care.
The people here at Homicide believe that those parents have been murdered. Missing Persons have their heads so far up their asses and won't admit that it's our case now. We need one of those missing people to show up dead, and then it's our time.
I know that sounds bad, but you would want just a single one of them to come up dead. That way, the case would actually be worked on and possibly solved in a matter of days; not in weeks, months, or years. Yeah. That's usually how long it takes Missing Persons to get their shit together and get to finding those people.
I've already went over the files on those missing. The couples were out on a date night when they were reported missing, the kids left at home with grandparents or a sitter. Clearly the one behind this has watched them for sometime.
All I have to do now is wait for one to turn up dead.
