Regret

Nang makarating kami sa Marco Polo ay nakita ko roon ang isang itim na Audi R8. They are here indeed. That car was Dame's first car. Pinatigil ko ang sasakyan sa parking area at saka ako bumaba. Hindi ko man sabihin kay Hendrick ay alam kong susunod sya.

Habang naglalakad patungo sa hotel ay may nakasalubong kaming grupo ng mga babae. They were smiling. They're sophisticated and flirty at the same time. Not my liking for women. And I am sure that they're not looking at me. Definitely the guy at my back.

And it confirmed my senses when they went to us. Lalo pa nang lumapit kay Hendrick ang pinakamatangkad sa kanila.

“Long time no see, I.”

“Serene?”

“Ang tagal mong hindi dumadaan dito. What's making you busy?”

“Its business, Serene.”

Mukhang hindi naman nya napapansin kaya tumuloy na ako sa paglalakad. Dinig ko rin ang tawanan nang babaeng nakapalibot sa kanya. Mukha namang entertained na sya. At least, walang magpapasakit ng ulo ko. Nasa tapat na ako ng pinto ng hotel ay nakita ko sa gilid ko si Hendrick. He's sweaty, looks like tinakbo nya ang parking lot para makasunod.

“Well that was quick. Tapos na kayong magcatch up?” ngisi ko sa kanya.

Hindi nya ako pinansin at bigla na lang nya akong hinila papasok. Feeling ko mamumula ang palapulsuhan ko sa higpit ng pagkakahawak nya. Hinihila ko iyon pero ayaw nya talagang pakawalan ang kamay ko.

Nakita ko naman sa reception area sina Blake. They brought luggages. I think they will be here for too long. I saw Carly, Damon, the twins—Kyra and Kyrie. Someone's missing. Where's my favorite bookworm? I looked around and I didn't saw any of Samantha's trace. She didn't come with them?

I eagerly went to them, especially to Kyrie who's playing with Kairo. He's big already! I nudge at him and he jumped out of excitement.

“What's up, Aphrodite?” Kyrie said.

He likes calling me Aphrodite when Blake's around. Ang sabi nya noon ay iyon daw ang paboritong pangalan ni Blake. Kaya kapag binabanggit nya iyon ay naiinis sa kanya si Blake. And he likes to tease Blake a lot.

“Kyrie.” I smiled at him.

He smiled in return and give Kairo to me. I raised my brows at him. He's grinning like an idiot while he's glancing at the back. Oh for the love of...

“He's a family friend.” referring to Hendrick.

He just shrugged his shoulders and went next to me. “Family friend, huh?”

“Shut it, Kyrie.” I glared at him but he just grinned.

Hindi pa ako napapansin nina Carls. Mukha kasing seryoso ang mga ito sa pinag-uusapan nila. And it's my first time to see Dame's reaction. He's so serious that when you'll try to approach him he'll just explode. My forehead creased when I heard the word 'baby' and 'Samantha'.

“What the heck are you guys talking about?” sabi ko.

Sabay-sabay naman silang napalingon sakin na nanlalaki ang mga mata. Except for Dame who's seriously looking at me. Nagtinginan si Carls at Blake atsaka sabay na nagtanguan. They're hiding something from me. And I wanna know what the eff is it.

Alam kong hindi nila ako sasagutin ng totoo pero tinanong ko pa rin. “Where's Sam?”

“She's with mom. They went to Florida for my mom's bestfriend. You know Aunt Elisse?” ani Blake.
