it was thanksgiving and alex couldn't be happier. it was the first time him and jo would be hosting together as a couple. everyone from grey-sloan was coming to their cozy loft and they didn't want to disappoint. "hey" he smiles, wrapping his arms around her waste upon entering the kitchen.
"hey" she smiles as he kisses her cheek. "you're home early"
"yeah. robbin's said she could handle things herself". bailey let jo take the day off to prepare for the big get together, but alex wasn't as lucky.
"good" she sighs.
"what's wrong?" he asks. something was bothering her, and that bothered him inside. she turns around to face him.
"it's just. i've been cooking that damn turkey since ten and it's still not even close to being done" she crosses her arms in confusion.
"hm" he walks over to the over and leans in, inspecting what the problem was. he lets out a small chuckle.
"what" she says firmly.
"you have to hit the 'bake' button in order for it to start..baking" he presses the button, holding in another chuckle.
"are you laughing at me?" she raises an eyebrow. surgery she can do. baking a turkey? not so much.
"no, of course not" he rises a hand over his mouth.
"i've never baked a turkey before, okay!" they both begging laughing, recognizing the silliness of the situation. the laugher continues for a few more minuets.
"okay. that's enough" she puts a hand out.
"fine" he agrees, running a hand through his hair. "we should probably start getting ready"
"i was just thinking that" she smiles, making her way to the wardrobe before he tackles her onto the bed. "alex!" she squeals, giggling. he crashes his lips onto hers. she places her hands on his cheeks, the heat flowing through them. he swiftly moves from her jaw to her neck, leaving soft, warm kisses in various places. "mm alex" she pulls away, looking into his dark brown eyes. "we have to get dressed"
"i know" he fake pouts, kissing her quickly once more before getting off the bed. he extended his hand and she takes it, fling off the bed into his arms where their lips meet agin. "last time" he smiles before releasing her.
"you're impossible" she teases, opening the wardrobe door. she reaches for the burgundy colored dress and yanks down the hanger. setting it down daintily on the bed, she beings to change. "can you zip me up?" she asks, padding over to a shirtless alex.
"id rather unzip" he tugs the zipper up her back until it can't go anymore. "but anything for you" he smiles cheekily.
"oh stop it" she hits him lightly across the shoulder.
"ow" he jokingly chuckles.
"that didn't hurt you wuss" she makes her way to the vanity.
"i am not a wuss!" he argues.
"just hush and put on a shirt" she laughs, applying mascara.
"bossy" he mumbles.
"excuse me" the brunette whips her hair around.
"nothing" he looks up from buttoning his white shirt.
"good" she points, returning to putting on her makeup.
"jo?" he asks after they were both finished changing.
"yeah?" she asks, confused.
"do you think this dinner will be good?" he fiddles with his tie.
"of course, alex. why wouldn't it go good?" she steps closer to him.
"because, i don't know. thanksgiving dinner is suppose to be..important. what if we screw it up?" he sighs, overthinking.
"we won't screw anything up" she cups his face in her hands. "okay" she smiles.
"okay" she smiles back. she always knew exactly what to say to make anything better.
"DING" the sound fluttered through the loft.
"the turkey!" she exclaims, heading towards the oven.
"finally" he mumbles, following her.
"see, things are already looking up" she makes a face while holding the freshly baked turkey. he laughs.
"yeah, i guess"
"i love you, alex" she blushes . "happy thanksgiving"
"i love you too, jo. happy thanksgiving" he leans in and presses his lips against hers. he pulls her into a hug and they hold each other for a longtime. their thanksgiving dinner couldn't have gone better, and everyone from the hospital seemed to have a great time, including jo and alex themselves. man did they love thanksgiving.
