"I know Demz." I say, still rapidly snapping the rubber bands. "I'm sorry about all this, all you wanted to do was meet up with the family again and I ruined it. I'm so-"
"Don't. There's nothing to be sorry about. They love you, they'll understand, I promise. They love Luke and Allison by the way. Dallas, Maddie, and Allie were getting along great earlier. If it's okay with you, I would like to tell them about your cutting after you go to sleep tonight. I'm not sure how mom will react, so I'd rather you not be in the room. I promise they'll be supportive, as will I." Demi said, pulling me into a hug.
"Actually Dem, I'd like to be with you when you tell them. I want to be able to answer any questions they may have, which you may not be able to answer." I say, getting out of the hug and walking into the adjoining bathroom. I change into some jeans, keep my white wife-beater/tank top on, and grab a blue, plaid, button down shirt. I throw the shirt on the counter and plug the straightener in. Demi stands in the door way.
"Anything you want babe. Do you want Allie and Luke there too?" She asks, watching me straighten my hair.
I shake my head, "Nah. I think it'll be easier for me if they weren't there, plus they've already heard it and Luke always gets mad, so I think we should meet the family after they go to bed or something. We're all going out for dinner, right?" I ask as I finish up my hair, then adjusting the necklace Luke got me for my birthday.
"Yeah. Allie texted me and said her and Luke were staying home to watch movies so we could have family time. I told them that it was fine and that we'd hang out tomorrow. That okay?" She asked me, tossing my shirt at my face, then giggling when I flipped her off.
"Yeah, that's fine. Thanks Demi. They'll probably just watch some movies and crash. Can you make sure they're upstairs please?" I ask Demi with an innocent smile.
"Yeah, sure.' Demi says, before walking out of the room.
"Thanks Dem!" I yell.
"Hey, Kenz. You look pretty!" Maddie says, walking into the bathroom.
I'm brushing my teeth, "Taaannnnks Maddddie" I say, almost dripping spit on my tank top.
She laughs, "Welcome. That's what you're wearing right?" She asks. I nod, "Good, cause you look really good." I smile, not really believing her.
"There you are Mads, mom needs you quick, then we'll be leaving in about 15 minutes." Dallas says, walking into my room, Demi following.
"Hey Dal! Did they agree to staying upstairs, Dem?" I ask, looking at Demi. She nods.
Hey, Dem, can i have a minute alone with McKenzie?" Dallas asks. Demi looks at me, I nod, telling her it's okay. She reluctantly leaves the room.
"What's up Dal?" I ask, walking to my suitcase and grabbing my favorite boots.
"You okay Kenz? You seem a little distant. I mean I know we just met, but I want to be as close to you as Demi is. I guess I'm a little jealous." Dallas says, looking at the floor.
I chuckle, "Dal, relax. The only reason Demetria and I are so close is because she understands what I'm going through. I promise I'll tell you everything later." I tell her, feeling kinda bad because I don't know her well.
"What do you mean 'understands what you're going through?' Do you mean what I think you mean?" Dallas asks, getting worried.
I look up at her, fear evident in my eyes. "Dal...what do you think I mean?"
"Please tell me you don't have an eating disorder." Dallas says, obviously not wanting that to be true.
"No Dallas. That's not it." I pause, taking a deep breath. "Dallas, this is gonna be hard to hear, but I self harm." Looking down, I can't see the tears in her eyes, but I know they're there.
