Have you ever had those fantasies where you were in the middle of a crowd of people, but you couldn't be seen? In those fantasies you could do whatever you wanted, and only you would know? Well, that fantasy, that's my life. Everyone thinks that it would be such a dream, to be able to do anything, and never be known, it's almost ghost like. Although, I'm not a ghost, I'm not a demon, and as far as I know, I'm not a shadow. I can do everything you can do, I see myself in the mirror, I eat, drink, and use the restroom, I just can't be seen.
It all started when I was 12....I was walking home from the first day of middle school. I was so excited! I had met new friends, connected with great teachers, and even gotten on the bad side of a few. It had been a very good day. I was half way home, humming the melody of "Hey there Delilah", when all of a sudden, Josie came up to me. Josie had Bullied me every since I was in 1st grade. She always stole my things and called me very rude things, even in 1st grade. "Hey there, Haley!" she said with an evil smirk' "what do you have there?" She pointed at my purple and blue writing book. "It's just my writing book.." I whispered, brushing my golden brown hair behind my left ear. She stared intently at my little blue book. "Hmmmmm..." she sounds "I think I'll take a look!" she snatches the book out of my loose grasp. I gasp, "Give it back! Give it back! It's special!" She holds the book high above her head, a few inches above my reach. I jump to reach it. "Oops!" she says sarcastically as she throws my precious book into the street. I watch in absolute horror as I see the book fall into a deep, muddy puddle. I hear her give a hateful chuckle, she turns and leaves. Without looking, I run into the middle street, desperately bending Down to save my book. I feel the soggy spine connect with my grasp and I whimper. "Maybe it's not totally ruined." I mutter as I shake out some of the muddy water. I begin to flip the pages, still standing my ground in the middle of the street. When I have decided that not all my pages are ruined, I close the book and begin to walk across the street. when I look up I see something horrifying, a large, black truck barreling straight towards me, I hear a loud honk and two bright lights, then all goes black.
It seemed like a few minutes later I wake up In a room, surrounded by cards, flowers, and get-well balloons. Looking around the room a bit more, i see my mother and younger brother sitting in two blue wooden chairs. It looks as if my mother is crying. "Hey mom, why are you crying, I'm ok now! Look!" I gesture my hands across my body. She doesn't seem to hear me, I move closer "Hey mom!" I say a bit louder, "you don't have to cry! I'm alive!" She still doesn't respond, neither does Tim, my brother. "Tim! Mom! Look at me!!! I'm ok!" I yell a bit frightened. I run over to her, putting my hand on her shoulder. "Mommy! LOOK AT ME!!! PLEASE!" She still doesn't respond. I walk over to my brother. "Timmy?" I whisper, desperately trying to draw his attention. My attention is drawn over to my mom, "Is she really gone? She can't be gone. She's not gone! She's not!" she mutters, a shakiness in her voice. What is she talking about? I'm right here! I run to the bathroom and look in the mirror. I see myself as I always am, the only difference is two large scars across my face and fore arm. "Ghost can't see themselves in the mirror, right?" I yell, still not believing people can't hear or see me. I then shrink to the ground, hoping that this would all end up one big nightmare. That was six years ago, and I was right, it was a nightmare, but it was one I would never wake up from..
