Two male children stood on top of a hill while admiring the sky painted in orange, white and yellow.

"Hinata-kun! Kageyama-kun!" a blonde girl ran towards them while waving her hand to draw their attention towards her.

"Yachi-san!" Hinata waved back with a toothy grin on his face while Kageyama just nodded with a smile.

"I got something for the both of you!" Yachi smiled as she gave the two boys small cases.

The two curious boys opened and saw a volleyball keychain. Hinata gazed in amazement while Kageyama's mouth was left agape before the two boys exchanged glances and smiled.

"Do you also have yours Yachi-san?"Kageyama asked.

"Hmm~!" Yachi nodded as she also raised her own volleyball key chain. "This is going to be the symbol of friendship. Let's not lose these okay?"

She meant both. She didn't want them to lose both the keychain AND their friendship but...

"Seriously, we're not getting any progress!" Kageyama yelled.

"Geez, stop stating the obvious!" Hinata snapped back.

"I had to say that because you're just THAT stupid. Go get that ball again!"

"I'm not done talking with you!"

Yachi, who stood there petrified, snapped out of her senses and decided to get the ball. The sphere of blue and yellow rolled down the road but at least Yachi was able to get it back.

She glanced over her shoulder to tell them to stop fighting but something suddenly blocked out the sunlight.

Kageyama bore witness to Yachi's death.

The two 'friends' sat on opposite seats while they stared at the picture of Yachi placed for the funeral. Even though the little blonde girl was smiling so brightly, it couldn't shed light into the dull and dark atmosphere in the room.

Silence reigned in the room until Kageyama started muttering something, managing to grab Hinata's attention.

"THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IF YOU JUST LISTENED AND FOLLOW ME!" Kageyama yelled in anguish as his tears flooded out of his eyes.

Hinata's eyes narrowed in shock and fear while he felt his insides getting colder and colder as Kageyama continued blaming him for Yachi's death.

At the back of the room, Yachi's spirit appeared and before her very eyes...

"I think it's gonna rain"Hinata stared up at the dark sky. "I didn't bring an umbrella..."

In the opposite direction, he heard some excited chattering and saw Kageyama with some other boy. The two of them walked out of the junior high school.

Kageyama's eyes came in contact with Hinata but he simply rolled his eyes and continued talking to his new friend.

Hinata bit his lip and stared at the ground. "Was it really my fault..?"

He started to run away and got drenched in the rain.

Hinata caught a cold so he was lying on his bed when his mother asked. "Isn't that Kageyama?"

"I can't get up, remember?" Hinata weakly grumbled.

"Oh yeah... but tell me, why is he wearing a different uniform? Did he transfer to a different school?" his mother asked.

Hinata wanted to get up and see things for himself but he thought he couldn't bear to see his only friend left in another school and didn't even tell him about it.

Yachi didn't only watch over Hinata just like what she's doing right now in his house. She saw how a rivalry sparked between them and the spirit of friendship was no longer seen in them.

Hinata and Yachi saw how Kageyama grew and turned into tyrant king, something the two of them feared and wanted to change him back but Hinata's soul was broken and Yachi didn't have any control on physical matters.

Years pass and Yachi's soul is slowly deteriorating but she still faithfully follows Hinata where the boy went.

Sakura petals danced in the air in and out of Karasuno High.

Yachi found herself lost at gazing down at her feet. She stopped walking when she sensed that Hinata halted from his steps.

The blonde followed Hinata's trail of attention and soon, the two of them were staring at a poster for the volleyball club.

Yachi was glad Hinata found somebody to idolize besides Kageyama and it was the Little Giant who once studied in the same school they were in.

The two of them headed to the gym. It appeared like the applicants were just starting to gather. Hinata slid the door open and as he did that, he felt time slow down.

Most of the people inside turned their heads to look at him and it turned out...

Kageyama was one of them.

As soon as their eyes came in contact, Hinata looked away and sprinted towards nowhere in particular.

He thought he had moved on. He thought he wasn't going to get emotional anymore but the moment he saw Kageyama at a closer distance, he simply wanted to vanish and disappear from Earth like Yachi and to be with Yachi.

Even up till now, Hinata blamed himself for Yachi's death and also felt angry at Kageyama for abandoning him, knowing the members of their friendship circle was reduced.

He didn't know his pace slowed drastically because of his thoughts and because of this, Hinata felt somebody hold him back by somebody holding his wrist.

"Dammit it's so hard to catch up to you"

Hinata looked over his shoulder after hearing Kageyama's shaky and broken voice. "I'm sorry.. for everything I did back then. I shouldn't have left you because we're the only ones left. I shouldn't have transferred schools. I shouldn't ha-"

Hinata wrapped both of hands around Kageyama's hand while flashing a smile.

"After all those years, having you back is all I wanted"

The two friends reunited and went to the place where Yachi gave them their key chains. Now, Hinata turned it into a necklace while Kageyama made into into a bracelet.

Yachi's soul, happy that her friends were reunited, finally moved on and even replayed the moment their bonds were connected again on that faithful day.

As the two boys gaze at the night sky decorated with stars, Yachi's soul started to disappear for she now felt at rest and contented.

"Thanks guys" Yachi spoke.

At the same time she said goodbye, Hinata and Kageyama looked behind and felt Yachi's happiness to see them together.

You may watch the video if you only played it for background music.

Sorry if they acted sort of out-of-character and some lines are sort of... cringey? I don't know if AUs are like that or not. xD

*sighs before eyes sparkle* Do you have any idea how much I enjoyed it when most of you despair? Your despair is so utterly beautiful and awesome. Not only in this book but also the other feelsy books I published with Haikyuu characters dying and getting into despair. -u-

But hey, if they moved on, maybe you could do it as well?

And while you're at the midst of moving on, I'm gonna go and think up of more despair-inducing stories eue.

I LOVE you all so much >3<
