Keeping Up With Dan

7. Guess Who's Back?

Dan's P.O.V.

Tay went home about half an hour ago and now I'm bored out of my mind.  What to do?  Hannah will be home soon and then I'll probably hang out with her.  I guess I'll call the guys.

Cody, Eric, and me have been friends since we were in preschool.  It's hard to believe, but I've known them longer than I've known Tay. 

About 15 minutes later, Eric, Cody, and me are all dancing in the rain messing around.  Too bad none of the neighbors are outside.  They think I'm better than watching tv.  Or so I've been told..

When Hannah comes home, the three of us are drenched and still dancing around in the rain.  She gets out of the car and just shakes her head.  "There's something wrong with you three."

"You like it!" Eric shouts. 

"Oh believe me, I don't."  She then turns to me.  "I think I'm going to ask Taylor to sleep over tonight so try to lose all of your energy now will you?  Or better yet, sleep at someone else's house."

"Hey," I say. 

"What?" she asks.

"I live here too!"

We start laughing as Hannah rolls her eyes and goes inside. 

"I guess we should go inside and change.  We're a bit wet," I say to Eric and Cody.

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea," Cody responds.

"So Taylor is coming over tonight?  You're such a lucky buy," Eric says wiggling his eyebrows.

"Yeah, can I sleepover?  I'd rather pester your sister though," Cody says with a smirk.

"Ew.  Whatever.  Hannah and Tay might not appreciate it, but oh well.  They don't own the world."

"Agreed.  Women are too uptight sometimes," Eric replies.

We get changed and then decide to watch "Pirates of the Caribbean."

My sister comes down the stairs when we're only a few minutes and starts complaining about how Cody and Eric should go home because it's bad enough that she has to deal with me.

I tilt my head back at her, "Love you too big sis."

She walks out of the room and then my phone vibrates.  I pull it out of the pocket in my jeans. 

Jocelyn

Woah!  Jocelyn Carter?!  I haven't seen her in ages! 

I quickly answer my phone.  "Hey, Joce.  What's up?"

"Hey Dan!  Nothing much, but guess what?"

"Uh.. what?"

"I'm moving into the house next to yours!"

"What!?  No way!  They aren't even moving!"

"Yeah huh!  Haven't you noticed the 'for sale sign'?" 

"They have one in their yard?"

"Yeah," she laughs.  "Anyway, I was just calling to let you know and I can't wait to see you.  I don't know exactly when I'll be there, but I'll call ahead of time.  Well, I have to go.  Got to finish packing.  Bye!  Love you!"

"Bye!  Love you too!"

I hang up the phone and shake my head.  First of all, my neighbors are moving.  How did I miss that?  Second, Joce is moving back!

"Who do you love?" Cody asks.

"I bet it's his mom," Eric says.

"That was Jocelyn.  You know?  Jocelyn Carter.  She's moving next door soon."

"Woah!  That's awesome!  She's so hot!" Eric says fist pumping the air.

I shoot him a look.  "What too soon?" he asks.

I just make a face at him.  I used to have a crush on Joce back when she moved away in 8th grade.  Both Eric and Cody knew about the thing I had for her.

"Psh.  Like your going to tell her anyway," Eric says.

"Well first of all, I don't like her like that anymore.  It's just she's my friend and it's a bit weird for you to be perving over her."

"Hey!  I didn't make any naughty comments!"

"Yeah, but you were thinking them."

"Ok, ok, ok.  How about this?  Dan gets Joce.  I get Hannah.  And you can have Taylor.  It's a win win.  We could triple date!" Cody says.
