Zarena Attali was sitting on the low wall of the palace. It was another hot day. She was longing the end of the day, the heat made everything seem longer and more tiresome. Zarena had light brown hair, vicious green eyes, pink lips, and was lightly tanned. She was wearing her palace uniform- gold parachute pants, a gold cut off sleeve shirt with olive green trim, and a pair of olive green flats, well, sort of, the tops looked like flats but the bottom was more of a boot bottom, which made it easier to handle her dogs. "Shun!" Zarena yelled "no!" she jogged over and pulled the dog out of another dogs bowl and steered him to his water. Her job was taking care of the palace dogs and seeing which ones were fit for training. Shun was a mut who in her optioning was a normal dog but her superior thought he was a greedy runt. All he other dogs shunned him so they named him "shun". Which in her opinion was not at all creative but it wasn't her job to name them just watch for their potential. She did long for The end of the day but she detested going home at the moment. Home was good when it was just her and her mother, but since her country declared war home was never the same. Her mother, shekin, was called to be a nurse practitioner for a mobile hospital. She didn't understand why a single mother had to leave her kid. Yes, she had gotten " it's your mothers duty, her orders are from the king, it's an honor to serve your county" speech. Yes it was an honor, but she still shouldn't have to leave her child behind. Since her mother had left she stayed with the Takins. They were a very nice family who she knew for a while. The Takins second oldest daughter Haley she was very good friends with. So she wasn't really going home and that's what she detested. The sun was setting and that was her cue to rally the dogs to the sleeping chambers, it was a difficult task. She grabbed her shepard's stick and shouted ' yen!'. The dogs were trained to go out the gate and walk between the low walls, down the the stair into the back of the palace. It did not work out that way most of the time. She had to keep the order. Obedience was a characteristic that she had to watch for, also strength, social skills, cleverness, leadership qualities, and so forth. Only the best got trained. " taki! " the dog immediately sped up to join the trail of dogs. Zarena walked on one of the low walls it was much better to watch the dogs this way. They entered the door of one the palaces basements. The dogs slept in a long hall with different " rooms" the were really just individual half wall nooks two dogs a piece. "are they all here ?" Duk asked. Duk was a generally good person but at times ignorant, with dark hair a heavy tan and on the shorter side, wearing his palace uniform. "Yes their all here like every night." " mm" was all Zarena got in reply. Two other workers were sorting the dogs while Duk checked them in. "All right you can go." "Why thank you for your permission, Duk." Duk blushed. "Sorry it's been a long day." "It's fine. Zarena said. "I agree though it has been a long one. Have good night." "You too." He repiled. She walked the path and headed to the gates. Zarena felt the freedom of the end of day. I wonder what I'll do when I get to the house she thought finally at the gate she decided to go to the lake and see if her friends were off work. She wondered how some of their training went. Half her friends were old enough to train for the war. The other half just had jobs like her but we still all got along. Most of the time. Tina, Devon, Alina, Katsha and Tiko were in training. Anila, Jeno, Lunin, Deck, and Zara had jobs. She worked her way out of the market, through villas, past the town, and off to the woods. It was the quickest way to the lake. Emerging from the woods she saw Deck there pacing. Deck was like a brother to her except closer. Deck had dirty blond hair, brown hair, and was tall for his age of sixteen. He had a job of making wepons for the war. She shared everything with him. Zarena walked up to him. "Hiya!" "Oh hi... How's it going?" He had his arms crossed and was rocking on the balls of his feet. "All right another day of work done." Zarena said. "You?" "I'm good" He said with a twinkle in his eye. "What? You seem like you're bursting." "I got it. I have it. It works." Dead silence passed between them "Are you serious?" Zarena asked. "Of course I'm serious why would I lie?" Deck asked. "Not here" She said. "Meet me at the spot of I'm not there Mrs. Takin found me and wanted me to go home. Make sure you're not followed and don't let anyone of our friends see you. Especially Alina. We're both off tomorrow so we'll just meet then if that happens got it?" Zarena said all this very fast and without taking a breath. "Um yes. No. Wait yes." "Are you sure?" "Yes I think so." "All right, hopefully see you soon." At that they booth took of in opposite directions. Zarena ran through the woods with her heart pounding. If this actually worked if he actually got it, she could finally activate her plan. Coming out of the woods and into town walking briskly she hears none other than Mrs. Takin. "There you are! How long did they keep you?" "Oh just the dogs gave me trouble." "well are you hungry? Dinner is ready." "Yes I am." Zarena smiled. Ugh, she thought, now I have to wait until tomorrow.. Well it's not like i haven't waited seven months anyway another day won't hurt. The wait of disappointment raining down on her. All their work, hopes, and dreams, just one more night until Zarena found out wether it all was useless or all worth it. One more night, Zarena thought, until the plan will be activated.
