The weeks pass and Stone is cleared to return to duty, since her declining health she has made a marvelous recovery.
On the Captain aspect of the job aside from them talking about work commands and squad duty Stone and Williams don't talk. She sits on the quad table looking at the squad run across the obstacle course, "if you don't talk to him you're going to lose him Stone." Coon says as he walks up to her, "that doesn't matter to me," Stone speaks up, "I think it does."
"You think wrong." Stone gets up as shifters are called to field three. Stone makes her way into the large tent where she finds a seat at the back.
"This seminar is on weapons effective against shifters. From frequency boxes to silver and wolfsbane poisoning, but first a video about shifter in the war." Within seconds people on screen start screaming as bombs, flesh being torn off and other gruesome things of the front lines are shown.
Stone makes her way outside and sits on a bench to smoke and letting the wind calm her. "you alright Stone?" McAllister asks her.
"Yeah, I just forgot how loud war can be." He walks up to her, "you're going to have to face your demons eventually."
McAllister leans on the bench as Stone snickers, "god I hope not, after what I did to them, they'll drive me insane." He looks at her as she squints from the sun rays.
"No one can hurt you as much as you hurt yourself." Stone laughs.
"Alzack hurt me more than I can ever hurt myself." McAllister sits beside her, "he died, don't let what he did to you ruin what life you have left to live." Amoura stays quiet for a while.
"What if I don't want to live?" She asks him, "I won't let you drown." McAllister digs his hands into his pockets.
"Maybe I don't want to be saved," Stone comments, "you clearly want to live why else would you come back?" He asks her as the tent opens and the shifters are called to the field.
She gets up and pauses to look at him, "that's not why I came back."
"Why did you come back then?" She asks him if he really wants to know and he stays quiet. Stone leaves out it's his pain that caused her to return, she couldn't stand making him suffer just to end hers.
She turns and follows the other shifters to the field.
"Line up. Despite the frequency boxes being scared nowadays we need to make sure you all at least learn to hold off the anger and stay in human form. It is possible for Alpha's can stay in human form, so the rest of you all can learn."
Stone watches as the other shifters quickly drop to the floor trying to resist. Stone looks over and sees Williams was beginning to struggle before the Captain lowers the frequency making the shifters struggle, even more, maybe her anger is too far out of reach for this to affect her?
Maybe its the fact that the pain isn't fueling her turn? Williams was on the floor trying to hold back the shift when General McAllister shuts it off as he walks into the field.
"Come with me Captain Stone, you have been exempt from frequency training." Stone grabs her jacket and walks away with McAllister, "I didn't need your help," Amoura waits till they are far enough from the field.
"I didn't come to help you, I came to tell you, you have been exempt." The smile he wears doesn't falter a bit. Despite Stone being quieter and more guarded than usual he still sees the Stone he fell for two years ago.
"By the way General McAllister your smile is still annoying," Stone comments as she puts her jacket back on, "it is not," he replies, not allowing Stone to spoil his mood.
