PAISLEY'S POV ;
My mom parked her car outside of the newly renovated Everland Park High School. I was mesmerized by the effort the principal, Miss Diane, had made to make this school looked good. Our fund raising bakery last year had done her proud.
"Bye, see you at home." I kissed my mom on her right cheek and climbed out of the car. As I stepped onto the cold pavement, I scanned the crowd for my best friend, Daphne. She was nowhere to be found so I decided to wait inside school. Don't wanna be late on the first day and give the teachers a bad impression.
As I settled into the new environment, I noticed the boards had encouraging words like 'Just keep swimming,' 'You can do it,' 'Always strive forward.' The cafeteria had some new vending machines and the tables were now longer and wider. They even had three lonely stalls, as to which I don't know what they sell yet. I guess I'll know at lunch.
"Students, please proceed to the main hall by 8a.m., thank you." Miss Diane's voice boomed. I proceeded to the main hall, hoping to find Daphne there.
As if my hopes were answered, I saw Daphne talking to one of our seniors, Lisa Kennedy. As I walked closer to them, I can slightly hear their conversations.
"I know right." Lisa said, twirling her hair.
"Alright, my BFF Paisley's here. See you at lunch?" Daphne gestured to me.
"Okay." Lisa smiled at me and waved.
I smiled shyly back. I am not one to socialize. We walked into the main hall and settled down.
About 10 minutes later, I can hear Miss Diane's high heels clicking on the floor. The hall silenced.
"Welcome back, everyone!" Miss Diane said cheerfully. "As you know, our school has been renovated. We would like to thank all students for participating and helping out. I hope everyone has had a great holiday. From this year onwards, we would host many more events, to encourage students. Thank you. You may proceed to class. Further details will be given by the end of this week." She announced.
Everyone started to walk out of the main hall.
I had English Lit. for my first period, same as Daphne. One of the three classes I have which are the same as hers.
As we entered the class, we immediately maneuvered to the seats just right beside the windows. Sadly, the back seats were taken by the well-built jocks and pretty cheerleaders. So we had to settle for the middle row ones. I sat behind Daphne. A cute guy with brownish hair and blue eyes sat behind me, and a pretty red headed girl with geek specs sat beside me.
As we waited for our mystery teacher, we talked about what we're eating for lunch.
"Pizza." Daphne licked her lips.
"Maybe." I said aloud. "Miss Diane did promise us better food this year."
Daphne clasped her hands together and beamed. Both of us loved food, like we couldn't live without it--oh wait, no one can.
Suddenly, the door slammed open and a middle aged teacher who is quite good-looking stepped in.
"Settle down," The new teacher put his suitcase on the desk and he leaned against the whiteboard. "You shall address me as Mr. Bendison or Sir."
