There was a demon who looked just like me. A red-headed fiend whose eyes were of different colours. One was as red as ruby, and the other was as yellow as amber.

Whenever I close my eyes, he would always be there, with a sickening grin on his twisted lips. His watchful eyes, staring. Judging me from the darkest corner of my mind. Incessantly reminding me of my greatest fear.

Failure.

"One loss," he said, "and your body's mine."

His wicked laughter ceaselessly echoed night after night. Keeping me awake. Constantly taunting me to succumb to him.

"You can't escape me. Not now, not ever. I'm a part of you, Akashi. I have always been, and will always be."

He was waiting for the right time. Patiently biding his time until the right opportunity comes knocking.

I let him play his game. In the end, I would be the one left standing.

I. Always. Win.

It was my duty to achieve victory. Even if it meant gouging my eyes out, or ripping my legs off. I would do everything regardless of the cost.

Winning is everything. The victors write history. The losers are wiped from it.

I never lose.

For I am absolute.
