*Madelyn's POV*
Herp and Derp were running around like little kids, and it reminded me of my childhood.
"Mom, can we go visit the orphanage tomorrow?" Carly asked, surprising us all.
Mom looked at her, and a smile spread across her face, and she said,
"Of course dear."
I was happy, for I wanted to visit Mrs. Schwartz, who cared for us all these years. And to see my old friends, hopefully. Finally, the house went calm as the two cats went and jumped on the couch, and curled up beside each other. Carly and I let them sleep, and we went to our room. I threw myself onto my bed and grabbed my favorite book, 'Taken' by Chris Jordan. It was a spectacular book.
Carly was cross-legged on the floor, laptop on her lap. Everything was so quiet and peaceful it was actually hard to bear. Jason, Ashley, and mom were having an adult conversation in the living room, and what shocked me was the words I heard.
"Adam"
"Suicide"
"What about the girls?"
"He's their dad"
Apparently, Carly heard the same exact thing I heard, and tears started to form in my eyes. Did dad kill himself? Did he really love mom that much? Even if he did break our hearts, I still loved him. He was my dad! I set down my book, Carly putting her laptop aside, and we tip-toed into the living room.
No one saw us, but they continued discussing the situation.
"Ty told me that Adam killed himself last night," Jason said, sadness lurking in his voice.
I couldn't help but break down, and that's when mom saw me. She ran over to us, and kneeled in front of us both.
"It's going to be okay, we're not sure if Ty was just drunk. We'll find out soon girls," was all she said, but I saw her eyes turn glossy.
