The man reached down to pick me up, which I avoided his grip and ran to the other side of the cage. He tried again and successfully picked me up and placed me in a kid's arms who smiled then stroked my back in a comforting way. But I have to remember that I was not going to be a household pet, and never going to be.
Next the man took me from the kid and placed me in a plastic tote for larger rodents, carried the tote to the front counter, then as soon as I was taken there I was out the door going to my new home. I could tell that the kid was exited by the way he bounced when he walked. But going to my new home would be hard, and I knew that very well.
