Chapter 1

I sat on the porch outside of the new house we had just moved in. My parents were inside bustling around unpacking all the stuff. We moved in yesterday but still there was a lot of unpacking that had to be done.

I stared around the cul-de-sac our house was on. Several houses surrounded us, with their nicely maintained gardens, and their Santa-Clausey looking garden gnomes. This wasn't just right for me. It isn't where I want to live. Even though our house was the biggest one on the block, it didn't make a difference. I was used to living in the city. That's where I belong.

I thought about the trams that awoke me like an alarm, and crossing the tarnished pavements with people bustling along with their daily life. Sound was life to me, here it was all quiet. Too quiet in fact. One might even say that no one even lived in this part of the street.

My thoughts were suddenly broken when someone said 'hey'

I looked up trying to find the source of the voice. Out on the pavement stood a guy around 17, same age as me, with a mop of dark black hair, holding his skateboard to his side.

"Hey, I'm Ethan. Ethan Dolan. I saw y'all moving in yesterday. So how you adjusting?" he just asked.

"Hey. It's going pretty good. Not what I expected but still. You live around here?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah duh. That how I noticed you moving in yesterday. I live there." He said pointing to the house that was in front of ours.

Damn, he's hot.

"Oh right. Yeah" I said running my hand through my hair.

"Well anyways nice meeting you?" he paused.

I realized I hadn't told him my name.

"I'm Cameron. Cameron Dallas" I said hurriedly.

"Aight Cameron. See you around" with saying that Ethan jumped on his skateboard and skated away down the path.

"Well at least there will be something for me to enjoy here. Hopefully." I thought staring at the boy that had just left.
