Penny walked down the hallway, near Katherine and Max. The hallways at Hector High School were extremely crowded, and very loud. The high school was remotely small, not giving enough space for the kids at the school. This year, Katherine, Max, and Penny were all seniors. They were all extremely excited, but Penny was still trying to figure out what she wanted to study in college. Or, where she wanted to go to college.

Penny arrived to her locker, or at least the locker that was printed on her sheet filled with her schedule and information. She spun the dial on her locker and lifted up the latch, as her locker popped open. She took her heavy backpack and stuffed her books into her tiny locker. Once she was finished putting her stuff into her locker, she grabbed her books for her first class. Trigonometry.

Penny stormed through the hallway, trying to find Mrs. Wales’s room. They must have changed classrooms this year, because Penny had sworn it was by the gym. Penny’s eyes scanned the hallway, looking for someone that she knew fro help. Suddenly, her eyes landed upon Kyle, who was standing by his locker with Brian and Michael.

No. Don’t get help from him. Penny thought, fixing the grey jacket on her shoulder, so it wouldn’t fall off. Suddenly, the tardy bell rang. I’m screwed. Penny thought. She sauntered over to Kyle, who obviously didn’t give a crap whether he was at class or not. Kyle’s face faded as Penny walked up to him.

“You remembered?” Kyle asked, his eyes filled with hope.

“No, I’m looking for Mrs. Wales’s room.” Penny said politely. She thought that if she asked Kyle nicely, he would help her. Kyle nodded, filled with disappointment. He took her schedule sheet and studied it closely, his eyes widening at her classes.

“You’re taking some pretty difficult classes this year.” He said in astonishment. She nodded her head, becoming impatient with Kyle. “Well, there’s no way you’re getting in Mrs. Wales’s room. If you’re late, no matter how long it be, she won’t let you in.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Penny said, carefully taking her sheet from Kyle and studying her other classes. Kyle shrugged, not knowing what to say. Penny looked up to find Kyle staring down at the jacket she was wearing. “You like my jacket?”

“It’s actually mine.” He said, crossing his arms over his chest. “But I know that you won’t believe me, so you can keep it.”

“Why is everybody bugging me about this jacket?” Penny asked, a twinge of annoyance in her voice. Penny hadn’t forgotten everything she did over the summer, she just forgot what had happened over the past few weeks, and everything she did with Kyle. The doctor had told her mother and her that her memory should come back soon, and if it didn’t, it is what it is. Penny took the jacket off, and handed it to Kyle.

“Here. Take it.” Penny said, a fake smile forming on her face. Kyle shook his head and laughed. Brian and Michael stood there, looking at Penny and Kyle in amazement.

“I said you could keep it.” He simply said, handing back the jacket. Penny shook her head and threw it back at Kyle. “No, hang on to it. Just incase.” Suddenly, it had hit Penny. She rubbed her head, and felt a bit dizzy. No, hang on to it for tonight. Just incase. Those were the words Kyle said when he gave Penny his jacket. She shook her head, thinking she was imagining things.

“Are you okay?” Kyle asked, steadying Penny. She nodded her head, and shook her head, trying to get the words out of her head. No, hang on to it for tonight. Just incase. “Is that a yes or a no?” Kyle laughed.

“It’s a yes.” Penny said, clutching her books tightly. “Now, before I miss my next class, where is Mr. Gerry’s room?”

“Same place where it was last year.” Brian said, tugging on Kyle’s arm. “Come on Kyle! We need to go.” Penny stood silent. She had wondered where they needed to be so badly, but she stopped herself from asking. No need to be nosy.
