Pieter ran to position himself into a shooting angle against the chinese soldiers. He fired three times with his Dragunov, taking out two taargets. There were still at least nine enemies, and his comrades fell quickly against the stun rounds the chinese were using. Clearly, the Triads did not want to create an international incident, so they were avoiding unnecessary killings. It would be a huge problem if the Russians found their soldiers killed in russian soil, provoked by the chinese. Such an incident could lead to war between the two countries. And that was not something the Triads would want.
Pieter approached a hallway, looking over it using a technique as old as the second world war: a pocket mirror. He was able to see how three targets were approaching his position. His comrades were probably already out of combat, most likely unconscious on the ground, and he was the last man standing. Damn those at the central command that decided to leave just a small detachment taking care of this base. He lay down on the floor, and rolled over to the hallway, positioning himself face down with the Dragunov in firing stance. One, two shots, and another enemy was down. The other two took cover in the rooms left and right of the hallway. Suddenly, Pieter heard a hollow metallic sound all too familiar. It was a flash bang that fell down just a meter away and way too close for him to cover his eyes. He was blinded by the light. The two chinese operatives ran down the hallway, closing in on Pieter, and one f them kicked the rifle away. The other one, pointing his rifle to Pieter's chest, talked aggresively:
- You better not try anything, slum dog...
- Hah, you call me slum dog, but you're nothing more than sewer rat - lashed back Pieter, still blinded.
A boot crossed Pieter's face, in a motion kick that left him with a sharp pain in his jaw.
- You talk when we give permission, russian trash
Pieter remained in silence. The operative that kicked his face called his superior officer, and indicated they had captured the base commander, alive and awake. Five minutes later Pieter was tied down to a chair, and the chinese officer entered the door...
- I hope you know I have no regards for you, russian shit...
- Neither do we for chinese rats - Pieter answered, spitting out a bit of blood on the floor.
- Silence! - The chinese officer punched Pieter 's face as hard as he could - I make the questions. You answer. You don't answer, there will be very... painful consequences for you.
- I don't guarantee good answers, I'm still numb by the sewer smell you all have... - Pieter said, this time spitting the uniform of the officer.
- You think you're such a badass? Take this! - The chinese officer punched Pieter in the stomach, making him moan in pain - Where are the westeners?
- In America, where else? - Pieter smiled sarcastically
The chinese officed clenched his left hand, ad punched Pieter in the face again.
- One more time... Where are the westeners?
- I think the last time I saw one, he was on the way to Hawaii... They told me the waves the-- a third punch aimed at Pieter's stomach hit him with full strength, making Pieter spit more blood.
- Russian trash, do not play games with me... Where are the damaged ship and the westeners?
- Ooooh... The damaged ship... - Answered Pieter, with a painful face, but always smiling - Yes, we had one of those last week, but it was from the russian government... nothing westener about it...
The officer running the interrogation was losing his patience, so he toook out a knife from his pocket and put it against Pieter's ear.
- Listed carefully, russian. If you do not answer with the truth next time, I will use this knife to cut little pieces of non vital part of your body. We can't kill you, but I can torture you until you give me location of the westeners...
