Alone

Prologue

Scarlet is 16 years old. She is just trying to make it through high school.

Walking through the halls, she can hear people whisper and laugh as she walks by. This was her everyday life at school. She wouldn't say she was use to it, but it was no surprise to her either. She was aware that no one liked her. She was the "loner" that no one cared about.

Her dad was a mess after losing his wife. After her death, he went straight to alcohol. Scarlet was just a baby, so she doesn't remember much. After all, she was just a baby. Scarlet lived with her Grandparents in Florida until she was 15, about a year ago, her dad claimed to be sober and over his alcohol problem, but as soon as she arrived he was drunk and started to hit her and scream at her.

She wishes she could go back with her grandparents. She had friends there. She was happy there. Her life there, was by no means perfect, but it was better than the one she is trying to live now. She didn't have to worry about coming home to a drunk father. She didn't have to worry about sneaking up to her room, so she didn't wake her dad up and have to be hit and screamed at about how she was worthless.

She had straight A's at her old school. Now, she is just barely passing. She has thought about running away before, but she doesn't have any where to go. She would be left on the street with nothing. She writes her grandparents everyday, but her grandparents have no idea what is actually going on.

Her best friend name Courtney, stays in touch with her. They talk when they can. She has no idea what Scarlet's dad is doing to her either. 

She didn't know her mom too well, but she knew things would be a lot different if she was around. She wanted her mother to be there for her. She wanted to know what she was like. She wanted to have a normal life with a normal family.

Her life wasn't easy, but she was trying her hardest to make it through High School, so that she could go on with her life and possibly meet someone. Get out of this hell hole that is her life.

She doesn't believe much in miracles or the supernatural. She just believes in making it through and trying your best to go on. I don't blame her for thinking this way. She has no other reason to think otherwise. 

But when a new kid comes to town, everything changes. He holds many secrets, and Scarlet is determined to find them out. What secrets may he have? Let's find out.
