Author's Note: I will be switching from narrative mode to script mode occasionally. The script mode has been used for bits of dialogue in the play.

Also, I own no part of Wizard of Oz.

"Ugh! Itchy blazer, never a good idea." I moaned as I slipped on a beige tweed blazer. It had a cute design, but once I put it on, it felt very uncomfortable. It felt like there were unreachable itches all over my back. Mr. Chris' old school did the same exact play we were doing (The Wizard of Oz), and he brought over the costumes used in the play. Some of them were great, but others were just disgusting to look at. Brittany, who was playing Glinda the Good Witch, had to wear a hideous pink top and matching skirt. Even Ms. S said her costume was awful.

"Yo, Andy, how's your costume?" I asked as Andy walked inside the classroom. Andy was to be playing the Scarecrow. He was in a patchy thingy that looked like a sack-dress with straw on the edges. His facepaint made him look like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

"It's really itchy." He said then left. I got out a makeup kit, which was a birthday present from Kim. All of the girls goggled over it.

"Whoa! That's a lot of makeup!" Leah crooned. She was adorned in green from head to toe.

"Yeah." I shrugged as I began to apply makeup on my face. All of a sudden, Luna came over.

"That's a big makeup kit." She said. Luna got the lead role in the play. Her Gingham dress was a bit shorter than Judy Garland's in the movie and her hair was in Dorothy Gale's signature pigtail braids.

"Yeah."

"Cute blazer."

"Thanks, it's really itchy." I shrugged. I was to be playing the Mayor of Munchkinland and the Oz Castle Doorman (or Doorwoman, as I am a female).

Moments later, I snuck out to the front hall to grab a copy of the play program. It wasn't any random play program because...

"Mia, did you draw that?" Andy asked. He happened to be right behind me.

"Yeah." I smiled. On the cover of the play program was an anime-style Wizard of Oz fan art. Ms. S had asked me to do so a month before, and I did not hesitate to accept the offer. The drawing looked so much better in person. The play program version looked awful. The colors were totally botched up and the Tin Woodsman and Dorothy's dress showed up as almost pristine white. The background looked awesome, though. I mentally told myself to use Crayola colored pencils on a piece that was to be scanned.

"What are you two doing? Get back to the hall!" Ms. S instructed. Andy and I retreated to our separate rooms. Many people were eager to check out what I had in my hand.

"Ms. S said you drew that. Is it true?" Emma asked.

"It's true. All of it." I said in Han Solo's voice.

"So that's your drawing on the cover of the play program?" Brittany's brother, Adam, queried.

"Yes. I drew it. Outlined it. Colored it."

"Daaaaaamn..."

Call me an attention hog, but I really enjoyed the attention I was getting. At least I didn't lose my virginity.

Soon, it was time for the dress rehearsal. I played my parts well, and got loads of compliments afterwards. Soon, Ms. S came into my homeroom to talk to me for a minute. Just then, I realized what Ms. H meant by 'dress rehearsal'. It meant that people would be able to critique our performance so that the final performance would be better than the previous one. It also let people who couldn't see the final performance watch the play. For grades four through middle school, this made sense, as the real deal show was at night. But it made zero sense for grades one through three, as their real deal show was at the end of the way.
